SAGE was the computer that produced 3D effects in Laserium shows beginning in 1987. It was a separate thing from the Choreographics system. An example of sage graphics is the yellow and green zig zag lines in my tribute to L.A. Woman video. Until recently little was publicly known about the SAGE....

I would assume it is just an analog signal, you might want to take a look at the old OpenLase project by Hector Martin. That should give you some inspiration and technical insight.

Regarding Toccata & Fugue, the real video is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgqoiAIAPXA This version is so much better than my first guess at it, with lots going on to not leave out. Regarding ports printed backwards: A perfect solution I never would have seen. Thank you Roj....

Hi all I need find the signal for a x y scanner pcb. Until now I have found that it has a +15V and -15V and a zero volt supply. I think it has a 0-180mV supply for how wide the pattern is. but i am looking for the pattern control now. Could it simply be 0-1V or am I looking for a digital...

You are right. But the nerd in me likes to play with stuff like this. The only thing I cannot figure out is the “figure signal”. Seems like it is a simple 0-1V signal maybe.

If one considers faithfully restoring vintage LII content using small footprint modern solutions old hat, then here's one novel thing. I have added the 3D to 2D projection formula independently to each channel. The first experiment uses the spiral ramp as a Z axis input, and the results are already...

Nice work! I built one from a HES studio spot 250 gobo wheel. The whole gobo wheel+motors were available as a catalog item in the HES replacement part list and I lucked out and found an inexpensive one. The apertures on these are huge, so I use mine as a sort of external targetable scan-thru box....

Thanks! Those drivers are nice. Easy to program, too. You can set how many steps, how many positions (divided equally), the rotation direction, if you have a limit/0 switch, even ramp up/down, a lot more... So many attributes, and that's just for the servo functions. The only downside is, they...
