Hey Xer0, check this out looks the same and says 30kpps too(the price is more than i paid though)!
    http://cgi.ebay.ca/RGB-ILDA-DMX-LASE...item3ca5b808f6

I'm going to contact the manufacturer and see what the story is with the scanners today. I notice that even my dmx controller doesnt improve the scanrate, pretty much same as ishow dac.

P.S: I see these 30kpps scanners here not too bad a price, could always replace them: http://www.chinesedepartmentstore.co...oducts_id/5920

Default To the other PF-114 Owners - do you have the same animations as this video?

To the other PF-114 Owners - do you have the same animations as this video? what do you think the scan rate looks like? I don't have the horse on mine..

hmm, thats what I was thinking someone changed the design of the PF-114 or at least the builtin ILDA patterns. the scan rate looks better in that example too

Yea, that looks better than my PF213C also. It would never manage that horse without loads of flicker. I think the scanners could be more like 10K. It can do some nice beam shows but I think that is about it.

thats cool, was that the DAC you were making at laserboy forum? I guess when the blanking issue is sorted you can compare at least the builtin demos to the soundcard dac to see which looks better.

Yes that's my selfbuild out-of-spec Amplifier (Bread)Board with chargepump for -5V and with r2r OpAmps!

Now my Blankin works mostly after i build an TL074 stage for the colors. my plan to use the SC signal directly didn't work out like i thought.

If you got those test frames from the PF114 then perhaps the scanners are not so bad after all.

They are quite precise. imho the lines on the grid-testframe are perfectly staright. but its slow!

it flickers like hell. all shots got done by using the nightmode of my phone so it exposures longer

"...I don't know if its the sloppy drawed animations programmed in, or if its the laser himself. but circles arent really round, lines are not pefect straight, and its flickering like hell......also the power dont seem like 300mW to me. can that be? but my brother's 15mW DX Greenie is brighter..."

Don't do it! Speak to Rob, get a real one.....

Emailing the company that makes them would be your best bet for that info.

    Default Attention all pf114 owners

ATTENTION ALL PF114 OWNERS - Guess what its 15kpps not 30kpps as stated on the pf-lighting website! ( http://www.pf-lighting.com/2009en/in...imageField.y=0 )

They wont refund either! If I had have known I would not have ordered this model at all , I would have gone for the model up which is 500mw and 30kpps apparently. Took me about 1 month to decide asking qs's and searching every website I could find.

Well you get what you pay for but don't lie about the specs PF-lighting!!!!!!!!

Sales dept told me after telling me they made a mistake in telling me this model had 30k scanners. I asked specifically for 30k scanners only

Gutted isnt the word, ive read the post, i too have just bought one and wish i had of read this before hand, i use pangolin quickshow and have it set about 15k to run clearly but have a lot of flicker.
Have you guys been able to upgrade the scanners to 30k or is it not possible, im very new so excuse me being thick.
I see also you had to adjust them, how and why, did you test, see and actually do it.
Someone also mentioned about turning them up to get them brighter? is this possible, if so how.
Yes im sry lots of questions.
I ordered mine firect from PF- Lighting cost of $250
    Delivery $100
    Pangolin Quickshow with FB3 $440

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry I'm so late getting to this thread! But yeah, it's usually possible to replace the scanners with a faster set. That will improve your image quality a lot, and will also allow you to scan faster, which will eliminate most of the flicker you see.

If your schedule will allow it, I strongly suggest you attend the next UKLEM, which is coming up soon. (First weekend in October) There will be many experienced laserists present at this event, and they can give you excellent advice on which scanners to buy and how to install them. In fact, if you set it up in advance, it's very possible that you could get them installed at the event. Have a look at this thread for more details about UKLEM.
Someone also mentioned about turning them up to get them brighter? is this possible, if so how.
Tuning the scanners won't make the image brighter, but it will make it look better. Notice that "grid" test pattern? (The one that looks like graph paper?) Those lines should all be horizontal and vertical. The slanted lines you see are a sign that the scanners need to be tuned. However, since they are only rated for 15K speeds, don't expect miracles even if you get them tuned. You should be able to improve the look of the images, but you'll still have the flicker.

That's a good price on the Pangolin FB3 w/ Quickshow. But yeah, lasers in general are an expensive hobby. That's changing now that 445 nm blue diodes are available for ~$50 or so, but scanners are still expensive, as are the controllers. And like anything else, you get what you pay for.

Still, don't be afraid to ask more questions. There is a wealth of knowledge here on PL, and we like helping people!

Good luck with your planned upgrades.

I've got mine two days ago, from PF-Lighting, also bought ScanLSP30 so I could replace default chinese scanners with a bit faster chinese scanners. :-)
I've already dismantled most of the parts, ready to mount everything to an another baseplate (400x400 cm size or bigger, I'll buy it in the morning), but as I can see now default scanner drivers are integrated with DMX board (I suppose it is a DMX board). ILDA and DMX breakout boards are connected directly to that board with IDE-type wires. And all the laser drivers and scanner head were connected to that central "motherboard".
So I wonder if it'll be ok to take XY ILDA signal directly from breakout board without disconnecting existing wires going to the motherboard?
Can DACs support parallel connection of two pairs of drivers? Is there any danger of DAC output overload?

    *digging up the old grave*

    I sold mine last year...
but am thinking to buy one again for modding it to 445nm C@sioblue

Anyone tried and suceeded at that already?

In that case, you're probably better off to get one of the newer PF-115's. They have a Casio diode for the blue built-in, so no need for any mods and just plug and play.
