    --- INVENTORY SHEET!

Sometimes i get little spurts of pretending to be productive and smart

I had one of those moments a little while ago.

How about starting a PL members "Parts list?" perhaps used equipment, old scanners, 1 of these, 1 of those type things?

Have one area where we can all post parts we may have. If someone one day is workin on something and says SH*T i need a "flobblewanger" he/she can pop on here and search for a "flobblewanger." (nice name huh? )

Obviously limit the list to just working, of importance type things. We won't list, "red wire" or SPST toggle switch. Things like that are anywhere and everywhere.

    maybe things like...

    - scanpro used 30k scanner
    - mm1 mount with mirror used
    - red "mushroom" switch wired with key
    - wired ILDA DB25 connector
    - Old 678xx CT amp

just things that someone, someday, somewhere may need. When things get sold off of the list, they obviously get removed from the thread.

Any ideas? think it will be too hard to maintain? it was just an idea. i think it can be a pretty valuable central location for used, important parts for us.

    Marc,

Excellent Idea. I was just talking with someone the other day something along these lines.

Since fell into this hobby approximately 4 months ago I have aquired a whole bunch of various things.

    I would use it.

    Great idea Marc.

The only problem as I see it, is how to set permissions so that a contributor can only edit their own contributions, as in order to be really useful; all items need to be within one searchable document.

Maybe Google docs has something that we can link to; .xml or even a protectable Excel doc?

I will look in to this when I'm home from work.

Google doc's would be excellent for this.
You can make people owner, contributor or read only, would be very easy to set up.
    I didn't fail !

Cool. I think this could be a great asset. I like the way the ggogle doc sounds. I will do some research on that. can that document be attached to a post thread as a readable document? or can it only be downloaded?

    Here's something i cooked up:

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...kRzlpQlE&hl=en

MIND YOU: right now, everybody who clicks this link can view/edit without logging in to googledocs.
Of course it would be better to invite people to it, everybody who is owner can give out rights to anyone.
But i wanted to show you how easy it is.

I just cooked something up i thought was the minimum info one might need, maybe there should be categories in there like Lasers, Scanners, powersupplies, enclosures, measuringtools, mounts, mirrors etc.
This way you can easily export and filter on stuff you might need.
I see this as an growing document thing, not something that is fixed and unchangeable.

Well took me 2 minutes to setup so probably a lot of improvements and ideas i missed.
But you get the idea. If Marc wants to setup this document, it's his idea , i am in no way stealing this idea or whatever, just trying to help as i have received help from you guys when i was down and out.

BTW the Spacelas board is a shameless plug for this item i am trying to sell
    I didn't fail !
I just found out 10,000 ways that didn't work.

    This is great guys.

I think a lot of people will benefit from this.

Hobbyhob- list looks great. i dont care who actually makes it. if that only took a few minutes, great. we'll use it! how/who can and will have the permissions to update the list?

Why dont we start coming up with specific lists from members of what we have. again...pertinent and detailed. Lets not include, 1" mirror, black wire, piece of 3" aluminum...etc...etc...

more detailed and specific type lists...

Maybe over the next few days, PL members...respond to this thread with SPECIFIC lists of what you have.

    ITEM:
    CONDITION:
    LOCATION:
    PL MEMBER:
PRICE (Shipping will be assumed to be extra):
    ANY SPECIFIC NOTE?:

I have changed the list to Marc's suggestions...
Everybody can change it to their likings. We'll have to think about a user model (make a google account if you want to sell something and ask a fellow member to grant you access ?).

Maybe seperate the description and manufacturer to aid with searching ie

    Item Manufacturer Model/Description

    Galvo scanners Cabridge 6215
Laser Home built 660nm red 500mW
Galvo scanners Unknown Appear to be 12k Chinese generic

This is an EXCELLENT idea for both buyers and sellers to have a localized place to list and view used gear.
I dont think the permissions or access needs to be restricted at all. It will work best if everyone can access it. I added a column for "date listed" so we know when the item was added to the list.
Can this link be a sticky note so everyone can see it?
    Great job on this guys!

No problem. As for taking up a bunch of pages, you can also create a new sheet with all your stuff. If I were you I would make a list in excel then cut and paste it in (that is just me, being lazy).
