    Laser Warning Dl-55 setup help

I just purchased a DL-55+ (what is the difference between dl-55 and dl-55+) and am not using it with a dmx controler. My problem is that the beams move super slow, in auto mode and a bit faster yet still very slow in sound active mode with the sound blasting. It is being used in my dorm room and am using a regular stereo. The sensitivity knob has little effect but doesnt work when its at minimum. Shouldn't it be running full speed at least in auto mode? as it is in this video -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBSLiJbpXfk

    Thanks in advance

I have a busted DL-55 but before it fell to pieces the scan speed was very much like what you have in your video. My problem was that I couldn't align the 4 beams, impossible things to calibrate and I wasted too much time trying to fix it!

Put some smoke on it should be ok, i think they use 20K scanners.

The video I posted is what it is supposed to look like, mine is moving at not even 25% of the speed as the one in the video.

wow, thats bad! - what do the stepper motors look like? you can compare with mine here: http://www.adrive.com/public/bdd6d7c...c2d4befd1.html

If they look to same I think they must be using same parts as DL-55. Might be a logic board fault!

if you had a dmx controller you could change the speed to test the scanners. Might be a bad mic or crank up the music right next to it? don't remember mine slowing down scan speed to the music, mine just runs at 1 speed the whole time . Sensitivity gain knob should pickup the sound better!

Default sensitivity knob is a joke

Ive blasted my stereo right nexto it, the best was with my foam earbuds making a seal with the mike and had wierd results, it went faster with the volume on medium rather than loud :/ soo puzzled, what If I opened it up and removed the mic and just put a direct wire from the stereo?

can u get support from the people that sold u the laser? I think if its under warranty dont touch it ask them first! could be a faulty mic but u really need to test it on a dmx mixer to see if the speed goes up manually.

It sounds like the mic diaphram or sensitivity pot might have a bad solder joint or busted...

It is fixable... also you could trouble shoot it by picking up another mic and a new pot.
