WOW! Looks like we have a LEM coming together! I am completely swamped right now but will finish off the final planning and preparations for this soon. I've never been so busy in my life! So far everything is a go and is should be awesome!

I regret to have to say so, but I will have to withdrawl myself this time. I have a student research meeting for URF on that Friday, and I may be starting research on that Saturday. Unfortunately, that means I'll miss my ride up there.

If you are up for throwing a party sometime next year or even this summer, I'll be around. A LEM is what I really want right now, and is what I really need if I'm ever going to actually make a scanner, but grades are priority right now. They just have to be.

You all BETTER take many pictures!

I also must withdraw.. unfortunately my wife and I had to reschedule our anniversary trip due to other scheduling conflicts and now we'll be out of town at this time.. in CHICAGO.

Since my wife doesn't see the romance in lasers like I do, we won't be doing anything laser-related (trust me I tried to talk her into it).. but we WILL be having a fabulous dinner at Smith and Wollensky which I'm not afraid to say comes very near to lasers as far as being dear to my heart. If you've never had steak from Smith and Wollensky, you haven't ever had steak.

    Cool

Chicago isn't that far from Lake Geneva at all; you could drive up there and stop in for an hour or two while your wife is asleep and she'd never know!

Adam, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it. I just can't get the time off of work. Sorry dude.

I see how it is... You guys are just too scared of all the fun. Oh well, more for us! That's too bad guys, I know my schedule is crazy right now as well. As soon as this event is over I'll be in Boston and then Houston for over a month!

Tell me about it.. that's why the disgruntled retardo found his way into that post. The wife and I have a full itinerary, but if there's any even slight possibility that I can make it I will.. very lousy deal, the timing thing.

Thumbs up Stay the course, dude!

4 people are enough to get started. The next one will be bigger and better. I say go for it.

Remember that back in early 2007 we had just 6 confirmed members for our very first FLEM. We actually ended up with 9 people total in attendance though, due to some last minute guest additions (including Bill Benner).

Starting small is a fact of life for these things. But they grow fast. So long as you have enough people to cover the cost of the rent on the venue, you should be fine.

I am out, you can keep my signup fee. The distance/cost does not tip the scales compared to some other things. My GF asked if I would participate in her son's Scouts camping weekend, happens to be the same weekend. I told her 2 months ago that I had my mind made up, but as this is unfolding, I cannot justify it.
If I lived within 100 even 300 miles I would stop in for a day at least, but this is not the case.

    Okay,
Let's get a vote on this. Out of the 4 people that have paid, who still wants to do this and who wants to pass. I'm in the middle but this looks like it's going to be nothing more than a big room with a couple guys. Just seems like a waste. Well, let me know!

Yeah, I think it's better to just cancel.

Oh well, I tried... It's off.

P.S. Everyone will be getting their money back.

    Adam,

Thanks again for all your efforts. If the venue gives you a hard time with a refund let me know I don't want to see you get stuck paying for the cancellation.

I hope we can try again soon.

    Jim
