Nahhh, it's fine.. they are meant to make that screaming noise anyway! if you don't hear that noise you're not taking full advantage.

Rule of thumb, if you run 50k, double it. (20k = 40, etc etc)

Go for it mate, make her scream.. (ooh er!)

    Disclaimer:

Don't really do this, we are joking.. you're a bloody Muppet if you do, and always eat your green veg and read the label on food before you buy it.

For a longer life throttle them back a bit to 150K, and they might make the second point

Bugger!! yours are obviously cheap Chinese models, my mate says his Cambridge 50k set is good for 160,000,000 pps.

    Disclamer:
My mate does not say that, and if he did.. well I'd call him rude names behind his back, most sounding like "runt".
No galvo should be pushed to it's limits unless you are not overly bothered about the Glavo itself, or perhaps but not limited to the amp (driver) also.
"overclocking" your galvos is like trying to obtain 1024Bhp from your Mini Cooper S, Stupid and people will think you're a wanker.

Dan, don't give up! Contact laserworld, they'll just tell you the smoke is normal, and you are just running in the bearings.

Do they still work? If not, try a higher voltage. Right to the wall should do it.

Nah, but you-know, at only $69.95, you can afford to buy a six-pack! ...then, when they 'pop'...just 'swap-out' the whole scan-block! - heck, don't even bother with those 'messy machine screws' - use *velcro* and make the swap a snap! ...actually, maybe we could ask these 'CHOEM's to start milling the scan-blok bases-out... like LEGOS

ok, might work for a small low quality beam system but 40USD postage is a bit steep!
