Believe it when I'm running a show and they go tits up and break.

I think I'll stick to Stanwax / Lasershow Parts. (Still have a pair of Scanpro ? 20's bought from Dave, they still work.. they have had a lot of abuse too)

You guys are only getting 80K?? , Wow, what hobbyist cheap junk!, I'm getting
    480 K PPS!

    80 K of X, 80K of Y, 80K of G, 80K of B, and 80K of violet!

    THE FINE PRINT:
( This claim only valid in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada on February 29, during leap years, when Aurora Borealis is present while holding the leash of a dog missing one paw, one eye, one leg and one ear named "Lucky". Once upon a time a certain German maker of high end laser hardware was loosing sales when 30K scanning was announced by many companies at once, and they only had a large stock of the still new 24K gear. Wishing to retain their marketing lead and "prestige" in various trade publications, they advertised being the only company in the world with" Scanning in Excess of 100K PPS". You guessed it!, 24K XY + 24K Red Plus 24K Blue + 24K green plus 24K yellow = 144K PPS.... Get the idea????" )

    Ahhh.... I see Dr. Watson!
Pondering these near yotta-pps scan speeds, should one place a second scanblock after this first set, one could achieve 2x 480K correct?
    So... 960K scanning
It may be necessary to swap the mirrors for silvered table tennis bats first though!
I'm sure the drivers can handle the extra inertia.

Believe it; believe yourself... and more importantly believe PayPal...

Come to think of that, maybe a stupid brain-fart: Has anyone ever tried to develop galvo drivers based on class D amplifiers? They've been proven efficient in driving low impedance loads in audio applications.

When you think of it, a galvo and a speaker are (electrically) not all that different, since both depend on a constant current to deliver a constant position.

The main chip onboard my old set of DT-25's was a dual channel 60W audio amplifier.
Not bothered to lookup the chips on my DT'40W's...

They're the same LSP scanners that Lasershowparts sell.

    McGalvos? ...we're just about there..

heh... I can see it now... 5 years from today, the 'breaking story' on CNN: "Thousands of 'CoolBeamz' RGB micro-projektors, the latest HappyMeal 'gimme-gimme' for your little McRobots, recalled by FDA, today, for reports of lead-based paint found on the wafer-thin baseplates..."

oooh someones asked a question ..... i cant be ???

Questions and answers about this item

Q: Questions and answers about this item

Can The mirrors on these scanners handle a 50W pulsed beam 532nm? 6mm beam size? And also could you possibly give a break on shipping price, It is quite high... Thanks, Allen
A: Dear Allen, thanks for your question, the mirror can not bear up the power of 50W green. The max power for it is 10W green. Tks. Best Regards Sam

Yeah, the DT25's just use a plain ol audio amp chip. If it drives speakers, it should be able to drive galvo's.

Umm, at the risk of saying something contrary to you all-knowing, superior, big-headed lazor geniuses here in this thread spouting off (cause you know how much I give a shit if I ruffle some feathers).. is it REALLY so difficult to believe that a scan set tuned to 20k at 20 DEGREES could conceivably make 35k at 5 DEGREES? Doesn't seem far fetched at all to me.. but maybe I'm the only one here who gets things like physics.. and reading specs before I open my mouth.

Watching this mess is freaking awesome.. it's always great to see people making themselves feel big by ganging up on others. Hope it makes everyone feel good to be them, 'cause it sure makes me feel GREAT to be me here on my side of the fence!!!

Also, for the record, I have a couple sets of the spacelas galvos, and they're not so bad for the price. For someone looking for somewhere to start they're an excellent choice, they work just as good as my scanpro20s and so far they are holding up fine after a couple hundred hours of use..

And dare I say it, but I'm nearly 100% sure that the scanLSP series of galvo sets from LaserShowParts.com is (or was, not sure if they still sell them) the exact same as these.

Should the "vendor" have posted in the for sale section and not spammed this area. I think that is the main reason he got all the crap. my 2 cents. They seem allright, I like the next model up, but i'll stick with lasershowparts for them even though a couple dollars more.

    Unbelievable!!

You're missing the point I think...

It's not the product; it's the bull-shit nonsense they posted along side it:

So yeah, I guess just saying that wouldn't suffice.. sure, I get it..

    And I didn't misunderstand anything..

first: The guy's from China.. things are different there.. many times you see Chinese vendors without a clue about things like "forum etiquette" and often they have trouble putting their thoughts into English words properly..

second: I'm at the end of my fuse with regards to the way some people here act. This is yet another stellar example. I'm glad everyone here is so friendly and tolerant of people/things they don't understand.

I'm done, I've said my bit..

First up, I don't want no trouble!

Yes the chap is from China, but that doesn't really excuse the spamvertising, I do believe there is another thread here that has been edited by admin for this kind of behavior.

It's like saying "I'm from China, so because I don't speak perfect English, then I don't understand that sending 500 thousand emails selling Viagra is wrong" just because he is Chinese does not make him STUPID.

Indeed, I agree - we should be more tolerant on PL, but I personally don't think we are a un-friendly bunch, if anything this thread shows we have a sense of humor and is *great* publicity for Mr SpaceLas, I bet you he has sold quite a few sets by now.. and to be honest if I was not working to a £5 wife enforced budget - I would have bought a few myself! (Despite what I've previously said in this thread) It's worth the punt at that price.

    So,

Believe Yourself, Believe Photonlexicon, Believe the exchange rate.

    All the best,

    Nigel.

I just saw this Thread... I normally only read the Threads that I'm
    subscribed to...

I bought a set of those $69.95 scanners a few days ago... I figured
that it was worth buying since I know Zilch about scanners/projectors
and have never even touched one..

I look at it like this.... If I want to learn to drive... I would be a total
idiot to buy a Porsche or Lamborghini as my learning vehicle...
I would be better off with an inexpensive used car while I learned to
miss the Ditches and Telephone posts...

I can also see the logic that 20khz @ 20 Degrees could possibly be run
at 35Khz @ 5 Degrees... The physics IS there... (perhaps not the quality).

I don't intend to do shows with them... they were purchased for testing
some new Laser projects for the Shop..

As to the OP with a huge post count of 6.... I think we can cut him some
slack and give him the benefit of the doubt that he did not know where
to open this Thread... It took me months of posting to get a handle on
    Forum etiquette...

It would be an easy thing for the Admin to advise the Member that it
was in the wrong section.... and move it...

What I read here on this Thread... I would more expect to see on LPF....

Holy cow... What a mess Mr Hart...

I am deciding between the Spacelas LSP30 galvos and a set of higher priced DT30's.

Having read all the above posts about smoke escaping, scanning speed, screaming galvos, Chinese vendors, SPAM etc etc. I am shocked!

It would appear reading page one that the majority opinion of these galvos is very low.

Then on page two when a voice of reason speaks up (EF) the argument becomes one of SPAM and hilarious marketing blurb (believe believe - most likely a phrase nicked from the Yanks).

I have read page one once again, the tone portrayed in the majority of posts is one of ridicule for the product. This is very apparent by the jokes of 150K+ scanning, all be it with a generous dose of sarcasm. Don't get me wrong, I love sarcasm, it is the lowest form of whit. In this case however, I feel the poster was ridiculed in a manner that was inappropriate. But hay, it's not my forum or rules.

Now, why am I so confused?

Given the ridicule posted in this thread, I would like you to consider the comments, attitude and general tone exhibited in the following threads regarding the very same scanners in question:

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...arts-SCANLSP30

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...hlight=scanlsp

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...light=scanlsps

I note also that a regular member of PL one sold these very same units!

Can you now understand my confusion? Can I now believe the opinions presented to me here? I thought this forum was non-biased and offered advice based on hard cold real world experience. I still hope this is true. I find you guys to be a wealth of knowledge.

Just for the record, I found this thread to be a embarrassment. Perhaps the jokes and ridicule could have been posted in a private dungeon sub-forum?

    Thanks for listening,

PS. I have run forums myself, the normal course of action is to move such threads to the appropriate sub-forum, PM the poster to let them know of their error.

    Wayne.

Actually the 150K scanning/magic smoke thing was referencing Laserworld scanners that Dan mentioned in post #9, nothing to do with Spacelas at all.

For budget gavos I rate these and will be using more in the future, the only disappointing thing is I have tried both 20K and 30K ones and neither taste anything like chicken

Now to formally address all those with not even a tickle of a sense of humour; each subsequent post was snowballing the sole notion of "nonsensical scanning" and rapidly self-derailed accordingly.
I have no gripes with the galvos offered; nor the price. In fact they look quite a good deal.
My only dig has been at what can only be described as "motivational sales tripe" from said Mr. Spacelas. I thought this was very obvious; no?
