Default VPN control of PC running Quick Show with a Ipod touch?

    Good Evening all!
Just wondering if anyone is playing about with the above idea and if so, what VPN software would you recommend? Seems like there's quite abit of free software knocking around out there, but got a few days before the ipod (gen 1) hits home so any suggestions most welcome.

    Cheers

VPN? I assume you mean VNC...
VPN can not "control a PC" from anything.

If you're after VNC, don't. Use RDP. MUCH faster.
And built into every professional version of Windows since NT4.0

Any RDP compatible 'app' for iOS devices should work.
Mocha RDP Free works well and is free.
Personally I use Jump desktop (http://jumpdesktop.com/) not free and requires an additional server app on the host.

why would you use a VPN?

are you talking about remote control applications? You could use a VNC or RDP client on your ipod to remote control your QS machine, only reason you would use a VPN is to cross networks (such as the internet)

I personally would recommend trying RDP... enable remote access on your QS machine and then get the WYSE Cloud app for your iPod Touch, its by far the best RDP client I have used on an iDevice

Opps, My bad, sorry yes should not be chatting while posting. Writes must concentrate one hundred times!
Getting all my abbreviations confused, yes VNC!
Thanks for the pointers and the corrections!

    I recommend iTap RDP
it's certainly the fastest out there.
Secondly it's the only one using the RDP protocol as far as I know off

third: it allows you to even stream the sound from your pc to your iphone directly.
However this is not really needed but still quite cool.

I use splashtop it's really fast I can even see the animations in realtime, the output window in realtime and response is realtime... I tried many of the vnc applications and none of them where fast as this one.

Only thing you have to keep in mind is a kill switch for safety. You should create something to kill (shut off the laser), a shutter or something. Or have a second person at the main station to watch over things.

A other solution i am working is using touchosc with midi yoke to create a custom interface for the laser controller... Since quick show doesn't support osc out of the box I need the translate the signals from o/c to midi... I will show some progress later on. So far i have tractor together with resolume and vdmx together with quickshow the track in tractor triggers both laser and vi screen animations at the same time.

The speed and responsiveness of the connection depends on the VNC server. I tested plenty of VNC solutions and the fastest server seems to be real VNC, almost realtime! The client was pocketcloud.
But if you don't need to see the screen simultaneously on your computer and on your.remote client, you should use RDP, it works just better and is free...

    Hello,
I am using Superb VPN Services to watch tv2.no and nrk.no and I am pleased how it works. Speed is great and there are no delays.
