Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

Thanks for sharing your photos and videos.

My photography acumen is less developed than my personal exercise regime

Also, Thank you to everyone who was there. It would be impossible for me to name everyone that helped to make this weekend extraordinary. I would miss someone and just end up looking foolish.

We had lasers covered from the 1960's to the 2010's; from soft and slow to hard and frenetic; from 1mW to many watts; from single color to millions of colors; from "random" blasts of color to a full Laserium show; from NooB's to old farts.

I can't wait for the next one now

    Peace,
    dave

Default what a way to kick off the first SoCaLEM!

First off, a huge thanks to DSLIjon! He has the passion, the drive, the connections, the experience and the *sanity* to get the venue,to set up and run a full blown laserium system, to get shirts & swag & other cool bits ,and to take the time to make the posts and encourage us to all come together.
& thanks to everyone that let me fondle, touch, take pictures and drool over their gear! =)
I learned so much just by being able to have the hands on experience. I had a blast playing with my laser setup & showing it off.
Those that couldnt attend all I can say is *wow* It was an extraordinary event!
It was really refreshing to meet so many other people with the same interest!
    Thanks yall!

Whatever it is, it certainly is a cut above the old method. Whoever came up with it was pretty sharp.

Also, I got bored this evening and made a new website for images.

    http://incoherentphotography.com/

    Irony, yes.
This images are in reverse chronological order.
hmm. I still need to find a better way to display them. I've never used this software before but I figured out how to tweak it a bit.
Oh well. off to bed. maybe I'll come up with an idea then.

I had a really great time at my first LEM last weekend! Hangin' out with others who really appreciate lasers and the wonderful light they give us was certainly worth the cost to attend. We should do this more often.

This gathering left me inspired to build a lumia projector for my home, and scanners for my bicycle. I brought 30 vintage lasers, 5 meters and a handful of other old laser artifacts from my collection (about half), and was happy to poke a few new holes in that razor blade after realizing where all the energy was going. Really happy to see the neat pics of sparks flying! And everyone loved seeing Maiman's very first laser presented as a hologram mounted in a box, both made by Gary Cullen last May.

So here's to DSLIJon for putting it all together, and all those who attended!

LOL! I love that the pictures of our "mini pre-LEM's" that we had at the house, every morning, before driving in to the SoCaLEM, are mixed in there

haha, hey - those were excellent mini-LEMs.

anyways. I've had a nights rest and am now coherent.
    that website is obviously not.
I'll be redoing it after classes this evening if I don' get too distracted.

Just wanted to quickly say thank you to all those who attended. I also want to thank Jon for taking the laser by the cathode and pushing this event through. Great meeting all the people that came out. This certainly surpassed my expectations and the vibe was absolutely great. There was a good amount of laser history and future at this event. We had a chance to experience the most amazing collection of antique lasers. We also had a chance to showcase the future of laser light show control by showcasing the Photon Dream Ipad and Iphone real time app. This was quite an experience and has definitely inspired us to get off our lazy butts and get cranking on our DAC/software combo.
The event was especially meaningful in many ways by having the creator of laser entertainment (Laserium) Ivan Dryer join us.

Great to meet all of you guys.

    Great LEM!

Thanks Jon for all of the hard work and effort that went into making this happen, especially for the Laserium system & display we were treated to, as well as being able to meet Ivan. You rock man - it couldn't have happened without you! Venue was nice, setup was nice, shows were nice (more shows needed into next year! - this should be a full two-day event!)

Thanks also to Bob for bringing out the "laser museum", another rare opportunity! It was great talking with everyone, exchanging ideas and laser experiences. To all that hauled gear to the event, both laser, cameras and computers - thanks!

To Chris & Adam - the lumia effects were great! Definitely needed for all future LEM's!

Looking forward to talking to all on the forum!

    Thumbs up Gracias por Todo..

    Hey Kats -

Wow. Sorry for the 'late post', but been really-buried since the LEM, and, really, even tackling it was not 'in the plans' for this month, but hey - sometimes ya just gotta give it everything you've got - and then, even everything you don't got just to make 'it' happen....

SUPER HUGE THANKS to everybody for their support and help - you are ALL Rock Stars....

I greatly look forward to your return, Sir!

Special-thanks to Sir Greg Displaser, for the name-tag efforts ...and to Sir Bob Hess, for the awe-inspiring collection... 'Smithzoneian', eat yer heart out... ...and that little 'holo-box' was mighty-covetable...

Also, Thanks to Sir Ivan, Josh and Ken, for showing us that it *is*, indeed-possible to get 'persimmon' from an RGB! I think we were all in *awe* of the colors you had Carlos' ".7 Watt" Kv spitting-out... I know he sure was stoked to see such a spectrum! Very-eager to get with you guys and make some laser-majik....

Special shout out to 300E and Plat - you guys are hired! To Sir Dave for your killer swap-table Sug and Swami & Lady Swami for the kickin lumia rigs n' banana-bread from heaven... and - Guys - Sir Robin, Swami and Craig - KILLER PIX! - thanks, so much - I especially enjoyed some of Craigs, ie: http://incoherentphotography.com/SoC...011/Beams/#124 - I vote this shot as the *official* promo-photo for-if Spielberg ever makes a new 'E.T.'....

Lastly, but certainly not leastly Cap'n Spec, without-whom the term "LEM" might mean nothing more to us than a quippy nick-name for some strange fish...

So, in 'thanks', I hereby offer-up this humble little effort - 2 'SoCaLEM' print-quality posters - *Warning* - these are ~ 3.3 mB each...

    SoCaLEM_Postr_v1.jpgSoCaLEM_Postr_v2.jpg

...will print 11" x 17", full-bleed, or fit on an 11x17, w/ trim... 2 'versions', cause I just could *not* distill the LEM down to just-12 pix - waaaay too-much good stuff to choose from... But I think these each capture the 'spirit' of the LEM - v1 is more 'prep' and v2 is more 'pimp'...

Hope you likey.... If not, I'll send you the PS master and you can make yer own dang posters... jk

Anyhoo, gotta get back to the grinder.... Thanks again, everyone, and here's to the next one

    ciao
