    Default Digital Caliper help

i want to mount some digital calipers to my milling machine, but i need the screen to be visible. so i would like to relocate the screen only.

dismantled the thing and as i suspected not a simple job as the screen is connect via a little rubber connector -

you can connect the calipers to a read out but the screens are just stupid money -

so does anyone have any suggestions on how i could do something similar??

You can build a real DRO that plugs into those calibers from a kit. Look up Shumatech.

DROs are awesome. They don't just give a position readout. They do computational stuff like tell you exactly where to drill holes beased on what you are doing, etc.
