Are these galvos need to be adjusted or ??

Hi friends.

I am all new to lasers and bought a 5w laser. At first everything was perfectly fine. Now my laser can not make a single beam, it makes a line instead :/ Plus it draws everything shaky. I am putting two pictures here.

That one is at 30k, it was supposed to be a perfect circle (tunnel effect).

By the way, no its not about the ishow software, I also tried it with the sound mode (first two pictures). Plus I accidentally burned my chair when making a beam I mean it used to work fine with iShow.

Can anyone help me if my galvos are broken or they are just need to be adjusted?

If the change from perfect to shaky was sudden, it's less likely to need scanner tuning adjustment. Images can become shaky if ILDA DB-25 pin 25 loses connection to the scanner amps' power supply ground. This tends to be a gentle oscillation/wobble than jerky. If it's jerky you may have an electronic issue.

The fact that you get a line and not a single point suggests the problem affects only one of the two scanner amps.

You can also swap the X and Y signals between the ILDA connector and the amps (not the amps and the scanners/galvos!) to see if the problem shifts axis. If you currently have a vertical line and then it becomes horizontal when you swap X and Y, then the problem is not with your scanners or amps but with your DAC signal.

To me, this looks like high frequency oscillation (higher than 60 Hz) on your x-axis which could be bad for you galvo, so run them for as short a time as possible. The shaking appears to be consistent across a range of x motion, so it's probably not related to junk (or looseness) in your bearings. You can try to check your ground connections on your x-axis, or if your scanners are powered from different supplies, check the x-axis supply ripple. You can isolate the problem to a galvo or galvo driver or a pre-driver problem by swapping X and Y galvo connections to and from the galvo driver.

1) Swap X and Y galvo outputs. If the problem stays on X, it's your X galvo, if it switches to Y, swap back and continue:
2) Swap X and Y galvo Driver inputs. If the problem stays on X, it's related to your X driver or x PSU (if independent) if not, it's upstream from your galvo amps.

You may need to Ground your galvo power supply. My DT40s do something similar if they are not grounded correctly. Let me look at them to be sure i tell you what to look for.

No the problems did not suddenly pop up. I think iShow caused it when I was trying to draw a text. I think it tried to do something more than its scan angle can do. After that I realized these problems. I have talked to the manufacturers they said maybe the mirror on the galvos can be loosened, I have checked it and both are stable. Anyways they are sending me a new set of galvos today. However I dont want to waste the ones which I have right now.

I will try to do what you friends have explained to me. I will write here the updates. Since I am all new to these, actually I have to figure out which one is the driver and which one is the amp in the first place

Edit: Yes when I make a beam, it makes a line horizontally. Like this _____

Please upload some photos of the inside of your projector, this will help us help you more!

The terms driver and amp are the same (when talking about the scanners/galvos). So:

Scanner = Galvo
Scanner Driver = Scanner Amp
Galvo Amp = Galvo Driver

I uploaded some video for the manufacturer, ignore the burning mirror part in the subtitles. The glue on the mirror (which hold the mirror on the galvo) was burned before these problems.I dont think its relevant. Or do you think it is relevant??

The glue on the mirror burned when i tried to write text with 5w power (white light)

I think most of the users here would agree, if you are going to spend good money on a 5W projector, you should plug it into something more reputable than iShow. iShow is not well respected around here. At the very minimum, I would recommend an Easylase DAC with Mamba, or a Pangolin FB3. They are tried and true software/DAC combos that have precise controls to protect lasers and equipment. I have never used iShow, but based on what people have said, I never would use it.

But really, if that was a 5 watt projector, the room would be lit up like daylight from the diffuse reflections.
