So here we go. A little teaser to get us started.

    Tear-down

First thing I noticed is that this unit does not have a trap door like the Ca$io for the diode block which means we need to tear it apart to get to the goods.

So far this has been pretty easy. I have not encountered any specialty screws just Phillips heads.

I started out on the back where there are 5 screws that hold the top on.

There is one screw on the side of the unit as well which I removed but I am not sure it was necessary at this point.

Once you have the screws out just gently pry the top open a bit.

Once I got a look inside I saw there were several clips that just needed to be released.

So I just pried a little where they are connected and they came undone with ease.

Not that all the clips are released and the screws are out the top comes right off.

Alright as some of you may have noticed these are not the same diodes at least not the exact same as the Ca$io diodes.

And here are the goods. 24 9mm 445 diodes.

Alright folks. Here is were we are. Daguin and Lazeerer each have three coming to them as they went in on them.

So far I have tested it @ 1A, 1.5A and 1.9A with an Aixiz lens. A G-2 would be about 300mW more but I am having trouble getting it to work with the 9mm module I have. I am not sure if it is hitting the diode or bottoming out in the module so it is possible the can is too big to allow a single element lens to work with it.

Now the numbers look as good as an average M series if not a little better.:eg:

    1080mW @ 1A

    1640mW @ 1.5A

    2020mW @ 1.9A

Nice tear-down pix! What are we looking at tho ? 445's or .. don't know yet ? No green or red LDs ? Are the green-faced things LEDs ?
Thanx for the great pics DTR!!

Sorry this is actually a very active thread over at the other place but I have been putting updates here so it may seem a little non linear.

I was hoping to see high power reds but that kind of got shot down before it even arrived. It was found in the service manual that the light source was 24 blue diodes driving the red, geen and blue colors. The interesting part currently is that it is a different package than the Ca$io projector. A 9mm 445 diode. Have not gotten to efficiency testing yet.

Dave you are always welcome to thread jack here.

I have some rayfoss ones and a couple aluminum Aixiz stlye ones coming. The Rayfoss ones are not very frendly for focusing as the lens threading is so deep with the lenses I have they disappear down into the module long before they are focused.
