Thanks for posting that Lazeerer. Good info!
You and Mr Planters have got the cool instrumentation going on! Wish I could afford spectrum analyzers and stuff like that

If you're going to do temperature vs output graphs, please make also voltage plots.
I vs Pout graphs are nice.
Uf vs Temp @ constant current are also interesting.
Not only to make efficiency plots (Pin vs Pout), but also to look at the relation Uf vs Temp at subzero temps.
And it will warn you that your driver will run out of headroom.

    Osram 1.6W PLTB450B 450nm Laser Diode

    Datasheet

Here is a test of the new PLTB450B 1.6W 450nm diode from Osram. This diode in comparison to the M140 diode offers a better beam divergence and gets pretty close in power about 300mW on average less efficient based on the results of the diodes I have tested. Tested 5 of these so far and they all seem to average about 2W @ 1.8A with a G-2 where the M140 averages around 2.3W @ 1.8A. There is one drawback there is more dye reflection/splash than the M140 with a single element lens. Also this diode has three bond wires compared to the four bond wires found on the M140.

This is the second revision of this diode and like it's 1.4W predecessor and as noted above it still only has three bond wires but this version has added an esd protection circuit.

Here is the power test done with a G-2

And there you have it. I will get some more pictures added with raw output and spot size later.

well I'll be waiting a bit longer only due to price. Those 120mw diodes on the other hand are wonderful and hit the sweetspot in price! I recommend a spatial filter on it. Because it's green any junk is really visible.

    Nichia NDG7475 1W 520nm Laser Diode

Exciting day. Finally got my 1W Green diodes and could not wait to do some testing on them.:eg:

This 9mm diode has off center pins.

First thing I did is pop one in a sink and fire it up. Was amazed the brightness of the beam indoors during the day. Really bright.

This diode with the G-2 has a pretty identical box reflection that the 9mm 445nm does.

So next I decided to put them head to head and @ 25 Feet they were both about 30mm with a G-2.

So now on to the meat here is the LPM test of the diode. Test is done with a G-2 lens.

There you have it. Whole lot of of Green goodness. Oh and for some dark shots.

    Prism corrected or uncorrected?

That was just with a 405-G-2. No other optics.

    Yummy!Thanks for sharing your results!
It would be the best thing can happens with an amateur laserist and his laser projector!
Now just waiting for the price drop!
