The Health and Safety Act 1971
Recklessly interfering with Darwin’s natural selection process, thereby extending the life cycle of dim-witted ignorami; thus perpetuating and magnifying the danger to us all, by enabling them to breed and walk amongst us, our children and loved ones.
...but if they did, it would end with the missus arriving back from Denmark (whose relative works at the Tuborg brewery) with a load of Elephant beer for me....Carlsberg don't make weekends but if they did............
Oh, wait, whats this.....??

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
Well, seeing as you've been waiting 'nuff time, here are some pics finally, of the red and the projector its going in. Now with new 532 too.
It measures just shy of 3 watts at the output window when modulated on an FB3 doing the lasermedia test pattern, which means its probably quite a way over 3 watts CW. Still some work to do on the dichros, I'm losing nearly 400mW in total off the backs of them.
Anyway, I'll shut up, look at the pictures....
Oh, and 1 shot to show the optics that came out, and the ones that went in to show just how space was saved/found, thats only 5 out, and 6 went in....

Some questions that I'm sure are on everyone's lips:
1. What do you reckon to the colour compared to 640, red or orange?
2. What about the brightness?
3. What about the beam specs - its looks fat but hard to tell from a photo (I guess that's maybe in part because 1 Watt needs many diodes)?
4. What do you reckon overall?
To the eye, I don't think you can really tell the colour difference although i would put it as squarely red.
As for brightness, I have no idea as I don't have a 1W 640 red to compare it to.
It is fat as there are 6 diodes stacked there but the divergence is very good which means that on a projector of this size, by the time you get a few metres from the aperture, everything starts to even out between the various heads. I have 7mm mirrors on my scanners and I'm glad I did as it would be a stretch to fit the beam on otherwise. However, its still a lot better than my 1W 650 I had.
Overall, I like it.
Oh, and with everything at 100%, it gives a very nice balanced white, not cold from too much blue which i thought it might.

Looks great! Nice work
It does look more than great!! i feel the urge to "steal" a few layout features.
what are the dimensions of your case norty?
"its called character briggs..."
I'll have a measure up but Simon Pitbull or Mark Insanity may be able to chip in here as they designed them.
One thing I forgot to photograph was the strategically placed sets of heatsinks on the underside of the baseplate, they seem to do a pretty good job of taking heat away from the upper deck and into the path of the fans.
I ran it for about an hour at full power with a heat probe in the upper deck and it stabilized about 5 degrees C above ambient temp which I was happy with.

Das green beam path looks zig-zag-erific!
- There is no such word as "can't" -
- 60% of the time it works every time -
That green beam is bloomin' fantastic actually, was very impressed, tight, round and green!
