ya I think their "ScanEco" line had DMX player boards... I know I bought a set of 20kpps scanners from them ages ago that had a DMX board of some kind...

I would imagine most people building projectors wont want a DMX board anyway so they are kind of pointless...

As far as DMX I have decided to upgrade to a DAC right off the bat. What good is a laser projector if you cant control it.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

I dunno if x-posting from LPF is considered "good forum form" or not, but here goes (apologies in advance for the offense)

I am building a laser harp, so I don;t need crazy speed.

I do plan on playing around with a basic projector along the way, so I figured these would be good for both applications.

They'd allow you to get your feet wet, and upgrade later. you can't beat the price.

    @Helios

Concerning cheao DACs, i am very very happy with the riya lite usb dac. check with DrLava or RiyaLasers. this dac will also allow you to use a variety of software

I'm in the same boat as you Helios.
Except perhaps I'm a little more cheap.
    I'm getting a
15K from the SwimminSurfers Group Buy
LSX and Riya Lite DAC from Dr Lava
and just if you didn't think I was cheap already
    35mW 532 + 100mW 650 from Deal Extreme
as well as Dichros from Ebay

In the end i'll have spent $500
And this is the cheapo method this is one expensive hobby I must say.

well, the only "cheap" thing that you will buy that will not "cheap-out" on you is the riya-lite, LSX combination. this combo is certainly the biggest bang for the buck in this price range

i, currently, own a riya lite - lds 2010 combination and i can't describe how happy i am with it. i suppose i will be even happier when i upgrade to LSX (judging from the demo)

Yea I figured as much it was either that or iShow, and after realizing how loved that was around here . I decided go with Riya.

by the way, i also have iShow (but i don't brag much about it...)

i'd sell it for 50usd, but then again, i don't want to do this to anyone!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Im going to keep an eye on the sales forum for a good deal on a scanner.

For now im going to start building the analogue laser modules.

Any word on when Dr.Lava will have some more flexmods?
