Laser Warning Coherent sapphire 488-20 OEM lasers

    Hi,
Lasersam and I have over ten Coherent Sapphire 488-20 lasers for sale with hours between 5 hours and 9K. All lasers have been tested. Price will depend on hours and accessories with bare lasers starting around $1K and low hour systems with heat sink and power supply/control dongle in the $1,500-$2K range. One fiber coupled mount is available also. Phil, 142laser, (813) 974-2378 at work.

I think the problem phil is:

    a) the power of these and

    b) the fact one sold on here around a year ago for around $200 from memory (I believe it may have been one of Laser Ben's sales)
They say video games are bad for kids but if Pacman had affected us we'd all be running around in dark
rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

I don't see any problem; the lasers are over $7K new and we have heads as low as 22 hours. It is true laserben sold some high hours heads very cheap but these lasers are not end of life low power junk; they are full sopec lasers with most of their life remaining. The $1,500 sytem price is actually very reasonable. So; who needs a like new Sapphire? Phil, 142laser (813) 974-2378

    PS I sold one yesterday.

For what it's worth, there were six of these that popped up on eBay a few weeks ago:

I was kicking myself for not grabbing one at $400. Is this the same unit?

    Hi,
Thanks for looking. These are not the lasers you saw on e Bay; the listing was ended and they may have been sold off e bay-who knows. I have had these for nearly a year selling one once in a while. All the lasers will be well tested-no bad units get shipped. I will give the buyer a full 30 days to request an exchange if any issues are discovered; the lasers are working to spec. Best wishes, Phil

Oh hey, sorry - didn't mean to suggest that they were the same physical units that had been sold on ebay. I meant to phrase that as a question as to whether they were the same model.

    Apologies about that confusion

Phil... I remember shipping some lasers to you WAY back in the day when I was at MWK Industries. Small world.

I think the main problem here is for $1500, someone could get a decent 250mW ~ 300mW DPSS blue with excellent beam specs and probably with not bad stability, even under blanking conditions. I have to say, I think 473nm looks better than 488nm as well. For $1500, you could probably even pick up a 100mW ~ 200mW 457nm (which is the cherry of blue IMHO) DPSS.

    for $1500, you could build a 10W 445...

    Just my $.02

Ahh But... The big thing about the Coherent Sapphires, or at least the ones that Phil sells, is that they are SLM. This means they are perfect for holography

Most of the DPSS blues are nowhere near SLM in operation.

    Just sayin
