    O.K.
Im in. Can my gear get a ride to the venue from say, San Francisco or Sacramento? I would much rather fly down then drive because my car isnt big enough and its probably going to die along the way (yes, I need a new car, but my priorities are so far outta whack I just gotta get this one more little laser component......just one more)..
I would be willing to share a ride and help with the fuel costs and driving responsibilities as well.
I would be bringing a Coherent Purelight Star, 6 + watt whitelight, a couple ILT 5500 argons and my He-Ne/60X "whitelight" table I brought to SoCaLEM last year.
*and* hopefully, I will have my projector, The Borg-cube, from Adam in attendence.
Also, can I grab one of the rooms for sleeping?

    Nate,

We're at the venue now (Tim, Len & I). As much as I would like to see some big whitelights at the LEM, the facility cannot support this without use of a generator. It appears that this will be a single-phase meet - more info to follow.

We will post all details, photos and registration info after the visit this week. Details for lodging will also be provided. I don't think we will have any issues on the rooms, at least not for those that register early and are open to the concept of "indoor camping". Likely no frills - but it's gonna be a great LEM.

YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE how cool this venue is...
Tons of room- perfect in every way- 9 dorm rooms to 'Camp' in (no beds there anymore.) shower hall with 6 showers- huge kitchen-- bathrooms all over the place- handicap friendly w/ a elevator to the theater.

15 min from the airport so we will come get you. Same for flights out.

When I get home Sat I will put up the pics... About the only issue is the parking lot is small-- I would suggest NOT renting a car.. places to eat real close if you dont want to eat with the rest of us. I can help 5 people that are flying with airbeds and sleeping bags/pillows.

    ... more details ASAP.

The truck is back.. "only" $1500. Broken fuel pickup --> air in lines --> ruined low pressure fuel pump. Also had some preventive items replaced while it was in there. Thanks for the assistance! There will be a less extravagant Christmas, but if anyone complains then I can always question their attitude! 8-P Looking forward to my first LEM!

How to "register" and stake out a room for 2? anyway, any of them on the ground floor for an old cripple?

    Opcom,

Glad to hear the "better" news on the truck! - looking forward to meeting you at the LEM. I'm hoping to get the registration listed either tomorrow or in the next couple of days. The rooms should allow for up to four folks per room, so we will need to understand how many people will want to stay at Urban 15 before we can know how many will be in a room. The rooms are all upstairs, and while there is a lift, I don't think it will work for the side of the facility where the rooms are.

The 'elevator' takes people to the area where the big show will be but not to the 2nd floor dorm rooms. bring a cot/airbed and bedding- big shower hall great kitchen- lots to see and do-all private so no worries about our gear/stuff.
only 9 rooms so getting one for just two may not be possible but we will know more as the list of attendees grows.
your chances are better if you arrive early- Greg and I should be there thur or very early on Friday=staying over an extra day to see more sights --never been to the alamo.

The venue is awesome- perfect for a LEM with only exception being the somewhat small parking lot.

built in 1924-- it will be a LEM not to be missed!!!

WE need your shirt size- the name you want on your nametags(must be worn at all times) also your first name and of course your $60-($20 for guests-add $20 if they want a shirt)
all who pay $60 get in the doorprize pool--lots of very nice stuff including a $599 Lasershow software bundle-QS Fb3.
Gregs chili friday and Haks BBQ on Sat-- bring your appetite.( Beer is OK - so stop and stock up on your way in.)
    NO SMOKING inside the church!!

    PICS up on Sunday

    OK -
    Me: 4XT (T=the 'long' size), otherwise 5X.
    Jacob: XL
I'll kick for the extra on the 4XT- big/tall costs more.

How to pay the fees? I got it right here. Please PM with details - or Do I PM you?

I am planning on arriving Friday.
My truck is available for cargo but it ought to be loaded at my place, or, some logistics worked out for Thursday pickup. - I am in South Dallas so driving North on Friday, then back south is not a good thing.

I don't mind more people in a room, did that enough in the TX State Guard, but beware I was told I snore loud enough to dislodge the ceiling tiles.

haha my apprentice Jacob has vanished and isn't answering the cellphone.
Must be with his GF, She is a real American Beauty but it's been > a month..
That boy's gonna miss out on this educational laser technology experience if he don't return my calls.

Had to remove a 120 LB RF generator today.
    By myself.
From a position 5FT up in a 33" wide rack.
And carry it to a workbench across the lab.
modified it. (big time education oppty missed)
    lifted it up.
    Carried it back.
    Lifted it up higher.
    Put it back.
    By myself.
In a position 5FT up in a rack.
(in best redneckish voice): damit where is that boy got to?

hahaha.. life is good, but I am kinda worried about where he is. People usually don't drop off the edge of the world and he's supposed to help me with the lifting in trade for hands-on learning plus his gas money and food, and that boy can make big macs disappear and destroy Chinese buffets. Good deal for him.. He was not mad at me for anything I know of. I guess I am worried, he's a good kid.
