    Default Which fog machine?

Not trying to imitate Borgqueenx, but I need a new fogger too. The Antari F-80z Alpha just died on me after five years of use. The output I get is varying between nothing and a small plume of fog every now and then. I tried cleaning it with distilled water and vinegar, but the output seems to decrease instead of increasing. I think the pump might have given up...

So I need a new fog machine. My budget is around € 200, and I was wondering what you guys recommend. What do you use? Are you happy with it? Any considerations you encountered?
If possible I would like one with DMX, but the ones I could find are out of my price range. Or should I go with a hazer instead?
Does it make me a nerd when I go to a party with my laptop?

Look at the QTX FX1000 or its newer version whose name escapes me right now (600W heater instead of 400W)
I bought an FX1k for £75 on ebay (2nd hand) and used it on a small festival stage (open sided tent) over the weekend and it performed admirably on about 45% mostly with odd bursts for effect. It used almost exactly a full tank (2 litres) over the weekend, which is about 1.5 gallons less than my larger fogger would've.

Less than £200 new and has remote and DMX.
You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Saw this a while ago, this is the one that replaced the FX1000:

BTW I think its re-badged Chauvet Hurricane Haze 2 or the other way around. If you look it up on Youtube, the product looks exactly the same.

That looks like a good hazer, but I can't find a seller in Belgium. I'll see what overpriced stuff my local light equipment sellers have...

    Thanks for the input!

You could buy it in the UK as there's no import duty being part of the EU. Only thing you'd pay is carriage. I don't know what they're like for quality though so over to Norty on that one.

I'm not going with the QTX HZ-2 after all. It is a good machine, but the output flow is actually half of my old one. That makes it almost useless to me...
I'm going to buy one tomorrow, and it's either a second hand Koollight or an Antari Z1200 II. Neither are good quality but I can't afford more I'm afraid.

I have no idea if they ship to Belgium but, this is exactly the same as the Antari Z300 haze machine which is a pretty well respected unit that sells for considerably more. (As a matter of fact, the owners manual that come with it is for the Antari!) I own two of these and have been very pleased. They work well for lasers and are not as obnoxious as fog machines. They'll fill a large room fairly quicky. Certainly within your budget and about half the price of the Antari as well.

You are thinking about this wrong in my opinion.

My FX1000 gives a better coverage than my 1500w fogger, despite having much lower output. It does however run continuously on low power levels, have a fan that disperses better and simply seems to make a better job of filling a space consistently. 20000 cu ft/min may be good but it'll be pluming and won't run like that for more than 15 secs or so.

I own an Antari Z300 fazer and I can honestly say the QTX FX1k kicks it squarely in the nuts! No contest in my opinion, the QTX/Chauvet wins hands down.

I decided against the QTX because of its low output and went with the American DJ Fogstorm 1200. The price was suspiciously low but so far I haven't discovered any bad points. The remote control however was sold separately for a price that was suspiciously high so that equals up :P
It's a fog machine instead of a hazer but I can live with that. It even has no warm-up time in between once it is heated up so I can have continuous fog output if I wanted to. It was able to fill the living room pretty quickly to a "can't see a hand before my eyes" amount of fog and it lasts quite a while.

The biggest downsides are the noise it makes and a rather high fluid usage, but maybe I'm too much biased by my late very economical Antari F-80z.

A hazer is way more expensive
for a budget like that I would go with a fogger.
I'm most happy with the velleman brand foggers (which I had before my smoke factory hazer) it did not have dmx though but one of the brands could.

Or since I am a dealer for smoke factory hazers and foggers (yes they are very very good too) I can take a look for you if we have something that fits your budget!
and off course something that is of good quality

Are you in a rush with this or are you taking your time?

I am currently getting the catalogue it should take just a few more days
My apologies for the wait, but hey if you ever think of getting a new fogger or switching over to a hazer, looking at my catalogue once I have one ready might be usefull

I hope I'm not buying another one for quite some time LOL
The Antari lasted for five years and I expect the same from this one so unless I somehow really need a big one...

Hah, if I had that much money I don't think I would spend it on a hazer xD

^^^^^^^^^ What Jem and Dave said ;-)

The Look Solutions 2.1 is a GOOD and Economic hazer. What you pay extra in purchase price you quickly make up in usage cost.
I did the show last friday, put in a 2 Liter container, filled a 55x90m hall which is 18meters high. It took me just around 40 minutes to fill the WHOLE hall with the fan and power on 99 (highest setting).

Then in the 2L can, i measured and the and the fluidlevel went down around 1 to 1.5cm !
This equates roughly to maybe 200ml max ! This equates to 1.40 EURO. How's that for ECONOMIC ?
To fill a let's say 60.000 cubic meter space in 40minutes.

You can find movies on youtube of the show if you look for The Reality XII

The 5L tank is nice, but we'll have to see if it's as economic as the Look Solutions Unique 2.1
Maybe they put a 5L tank on it because it's a haze fluid guzzler ;-)

No it's a a hazer being used for touring it claims to be economic.
I will give my feedback about it.
It's also more expensive then the unique 2.1

Everyone asks "what smoke machine". Rarely do people ask "What smoke fluid". That is the real question.
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.
