    Default ilda file browser

Hi, is there some sort of plugin or tool to point to a folder and get a graphical preview of all ilda frams in that folder, kind of like you do with windows 7 preview of files.

i did use ilda viewer and it is limited to small files only and not a browser plug in.

    Hi Michael

Just from memory here... but I thought that facility existed within the Pangolin software??

Or did I just dream it

Hi Jem, thanks for the reply,

well yes and it allows you to browse through a folder and select an ilda file and you do get a preview but this is on a per file base so for quickly looking up a particular interesting file within your ilda file folder takes a lot of time.
i was more looking for previewing multiple ilda files like browsing photo's in windows explorer.

Ahh... Sorry, that'll teach me to read things more thoroughly

Yes, what you're suggesting would be very useful indeed, and certainly save some time when looking for specific ILDA files.

    Cheers

    Dear Michel,

    Technically this is possible.

But trust me, you do not want to have this feature intergrated with windows explorer, whenever you will get into a map full of ilda's this will be a rather unpleasant experience, also it doesn't exactly know what part of an ilda show to make a thumbnail off.
Likely this modification will also make explorer.exe more heavy on your pc and more unstable and will likely result in some explorer.exe crashes.

Haha well it would be awsome but explorer doesn't support this as far as i'm aware.
It would also require some programming and reverse engineering of explorer perhaps.

also a lot of times the first frame is either black or contains a fade (so it's either black or very dark)

    Simple answer...

Which frame does the Pangolin software use to display???

    Use that

In pangolin you can click a file when you have the open file dialog open and then you can sort of scroll in the frames fast (this is only for .lds)
This function will not intergrate in explorer at all. For ild: frame 1 will be used and you are not able to scroll in the frames in the file open dialog for ilda.

I'm no master programmer but hmn well maybe it's possible i can work on it :b

Also does spaghetti intergrate with explorer to achieve this? or is this for the file browser only?
if yes then it certainly it will work. But from what i percieved from michels request was that he wanted it intergrated in his explorer.exe

A small standalone program would do it nicely, would be useful to have Expolorer integration, but not 100% necessary in my opinion

I downloaded the demo version of Spaghetti, but it requires dot net 4 runtime files which don't exist on my Vista system. I'm not going to install them either as i'm running low on disk space and don't want to crap up my laptop with what could be uneccessay stuff.

    Cheers

    Same here Matey.
It sounds like a useful utility to have but overloading the PC with Bloatware for just one application just isn't going to happen.

Not sure what the big deal is. .NET Framework 4 will be standard on Windows 8 just like .NET Framework 3.5 is standard on Windows 7. But, no skin off my back if you don't want to use it.

    No big deal matey.

But if any proggy needs another proggy to be installed just to run then I'm of the opinion that it isn't worth it.
Nothing personal but it's kinda like when I try to install a prog and the default is to change all your default browser settings and install various task bars, change associations, add so and so as the default etc.

    No thanks.
Just install this prog and bugger all else otherwise you are trying to muck about with my PC the way I have set it up and I don't like that.
    Cheers.

You are showing your ignorance when it comes to software with those statements. No offense, but it's the truth. Just about all software requires some level of runtime libraries. From what I understand, Pangolin software is or was developed using Delphi which requires Delphi runtimes. Other software requires C++ runtimes such as VC++ runtime, Boost, etc, etc. I could add the .NET runtime class library to my installer but it would be pretty large so I leave it up to the end user to install it once. So, when I release updates, they don't need to download a bunch of runtime libraries that they already have. You probably have a bunch of crap on your PC that was installed without your knowledge because unlike Spaghetti, the installer just goes ahead and puts it there without requiring your intervention. The .NET Framework is not bloatware. It just sits there and runs when you need it. In fact, as more and more software is released for it you will need it anyway. So, you may look all COOL with your bloatware comments to the uninformed, but to me, your comments come across as naive and ridiculous.

    Cheers.

    haha calm down guys.

I in fact would not call dot net updates bloatware.
I suggest you install it, first of all the size isn't that big and it also doesn't affect your pc performance or clutter anything.
It's just a library. Sooner or later you will need to update that thing to make newer stuff work, so why wait and stick with the old?

    Hey Gary.

In no way did I mean this to be a slur on your software, and I apologise if it came across that way.

What I meant to imply was that I probably wouldn't ever upgrade to the full version of Spaghetti as I have all the laser software I really need. Also, i've managed this long without an ILDA browser so it's not really essential that I have one now. I'm also getting pretty low on disk space on my laptop and until I get some stuff moved over to a bigger NAS (mainly music files) I don't have much room for stuff I won't use that often.

I just figured if there was a really simple ILDA multi-file browser out there it would be a useful addition to the toolbox

    Take care

    Jem

Jem just stack in a bunch of external HardDrives that run of usb power only.
I also have like.. um 16 of them? well ok but these didn't run of usb power, because I never wanted that data to be portable anyway.
