    Default 640 suggestions?

any suggestions how to build a 600mw 640nm module with a 3mm beam diameter?

do you have lots of money or not so much "lots of money" ???

the expesnsive way is a quad opnext 63133 with a pbs and waveplate and short fl lens

the not so expensive way is to wait and see what will come out of the whole mitsubishi mgldhudfu71 diode, where you will be able to do the trick with 1/3 of the cash and just two diodes

What divergence do you need? The opnext has the edge on beam quality over the mitsu '71 diodes. But, as LaNeK said, the price is much higher. I have been using a dual mitsu '71 in my projector for about 2 months and I can say, most wouldn't notice the slight difference in beam quality.

What are you using for blue?

Then opnext diodes is what you want.

If you have a 445 multimode diode then what's the problem combining it with a multimode red? Just curious.

the thing with the 650 and 635nm multimode diodes is that if i want to keep the divergence down the beam is going to be to fat
to fit my dt40 wide scanners,

i rather have something that matches the green then the blue

and i'm used to the beam specs of my Ar/Kr

LOL .., ahem, .. I mean.. good luck with that.. (using LDs) .. Anyway, the Opnext HL63133DG 638 nm 170 mW or the HL6385DG 642 nm 150 mW are both single mode I believe. The preference from what I've read is the 63133 for good beam specs after collimation and correction optics. I believe they run somewhere between 100-160 usd ea, and are presently available for purchase.

life is hard when you have gotten used to gas lasers and have to use diodes

i rather pay 400 bucks for a 600mw beam that fits the mirrors
then 200 for a 600mw beam that is four times my mirror size

but how do i combine 4 Opnext HL63133DG?
can i knife edge them together like this ::
    and get a 3x3mm beam?
or is my hopes to high?

I think you want to knife edge like this: ll and ll through a PBS with waveplate or ll and = with no waveplate.

the diodes only should cost you around 480 usd if you are lucky, probably more. then, you need another 80 for lenses, diode mounts, lens barrels, around 50-90 for a decent low loss pbs and i don't know how much for the waveplate. You also need two mirrors for red and three mounts (2 for mirrors and one for pbs), diode driver, metal parts etc all these should easily cost more than 850usd. maybe reconsider on the single mode?

other than that, the best configuration for a 3mm beam without using telecopics, is what logsquared suggests.

one example of this implementation (a rough one, as i prefer it) can be seen here

    this would work then http://www.microlaserlabs.com/produc...ombiner-elite/
if laserman532 gets it back in stock

do i need to add a waveplate if i use Opnext HL63133DG diodes, can't i just turn the diodes 90deg?

355 + 480 + driver cost... it is not cheap...
while if you settle for a 4mm beam, it should cost you less than 450 alltogether, if you go for logsquared's kit, and you'll probably end up with around 800mw of 640nm

concerning the waveplate, i prefer to use it as it makes the overall build and design much simpler (no need for elevation of diodes, no rotation, no "strange" gluing of mirrors etc etc), just my personnal preference

You can turn the diodes 90deg. However, knife edge stacking "under over" is a little bit trickier. I don't think the laserman kit allows for "under over" without shimming the mounts.

edit: we must have posted at the same time

I have two of the baseplates all drilled an tapped from Microlaserlabs if interested, I think he has the mirror mount and diode holders in stock.

I bought two complete quads a while back but ended up using the other parts on systems and not the base.

Cute? Lasers are cool, techy, freaky, awesome, bizarre, anything but definitely not "cute" lol.

It's getting cuter! Had some more time to work on this quad tonight. Everything is working out pretty good. I laid it out for a 10mm cube and only have a 12.5 here. Still worked out though. I forgot how much the under over alignment is a PITA. Putting the "under knife" mirror on the 45 deg mount makes it a bit easier because the mirror can rotate and kinda "karate chop" the beam up and down. I am having a lot of fun on this build... making the case "billet" is fun and looks "cute" too.

Lookin good LS. Qute. Do you think that it would work with the new mitsu 500mw P73 LDs?

Thanks. Not enough room inside for the correction optics.
