Mirrors on flex mounts.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick one, I'm building up one of my quads again after fitting optima lenses, I currently use an epoxy glue to fit the 10mm mirrors to the flex mount. I'm finding that they don't seem to stand the test of time.

I'm using a Wickes own brand epoxy, maybe it crap glue or would super glue be better.

Cheers Andy, I think its just Wickes glue being shite, I thought epoxy was the right one.

they do general glue with different drying times, i use a 5 min dry one. but they do a 30 sec dry one also

JB weld - I love the stuff! The slow drying type is very very tough, love it.. Generally I either coat the optic with first contact before using super glue to tack in place.. Or I use a small bit of double sided tape.

Hi Tony,
From the advice I've read on threads about this people strongly advise
not to used super glue. Apparently the vapour that it gives off will settle on surrounding surfaces including your mirror and impare it's reflective properties.

I'd go with Andy's suggestion.

to be honest i do what dave just said. a tiny tiny bit of super glue to tack in place the use the glue from maplin

i normally put the super glue on a screw driver so i can just rub that on the back of the mirror, that way its only a tiny amount. if your not happy with the position it can just be popped off

I'll get some named epoxy, I'm finding every time I adjust/ change anything on the quads it wouldn't take a lot of pressure to remove the mirrors.

I guess most people have there own way of setting the mirrors, I have found that using a small piece of masking tape cut to the mirror then turn the power down so the diode just lases, it allows you to get tight knife edging, work for me.

I use a type of capton tape that has a double side glue. Works real well. I use it for pbs cubes and mirrors on mm1. I'm sure it would work on flexmounts. In fact I have some coming from Dave to replace the laserman532 mounts on my quad. Now you want to know where to get the tape and what is called.....I'll get back to you I forget.

I use JB weild myself. My friend Jonathon don't really like it but I never had a problem with it. Plus the mirrors don't slide as much when they are drying.
