    Default If....

After spending the better part of two days working on a proposal for a possible medical laser client, I'm P.O.ed.

Look, its like this. If no one spends money, no one can make any profit. Everybody is so damn scared of spending money, that no one will try anything. If the cycle stops, it cant easily start again. Stop fearing, the world is not going to end. Stop listening to the news media, who makes their money scaring you.

Look, consult any economic theory you want, and it says the same thing. Private Sector Spending creates effective, positive, multiplication of value. Even the Lenin and Stalin admited that. God says that in the Good Book. So do a bunch of other faiths.

    Stop being scared. Its evil.

Vote out some of these nay saying crooks who profit from our destruction, on both sides of the isle.

I just lost a chance at a world class product. Wait six months, say the investors.. The market is flat, said the marketer.

Bullshit. I have designed a better mousetrap to the inventer's specifications. Its half the price of the TWO 5000$ widgets it replaces. Thus it should SELL.

My bet is the idea will be done by some one else by then.

No matter what your faith, pray for our economy. If you are not of faith, well, try some positive thinking.

    Just RANTING,

    Steve

Ok, I love the David Gates song, and have not heard it in years!

    Steve
    Lyrics:

    Writer: GATES, DAVID

    Quote:

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
    I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

    End Quote.

"Bread" is one of the classic 70's bands that is consistently overlooked and under-appreciated by the so-called "classic rock media experts". David Gates was a talented dude...

Hey All, Thats a quote from the younger days, and a good one! I always thought that Manfred Manns "The Roaring Silence" of a similar date would be a good album to use for a show.

Yeah I feel your pain. Last month I lost an 87k contract for much the Same reasons. They cheaped out, and I have alraady started seeing signs of 'penny wise, dollar foolish' ramifications.

Steve, recession and depression is always caused by lack of confidence. The money hasn't gone away; if the media stopped 'talking things down' and sensationalising how bad things are, we might have a hope, but the media love having bad news to give.

Well, I called the guy back and said, I want in, I'll build the proto at own expense, but I want "IN". Practicing what I preach. He went for it, offering to sign a NDA.

AllThat, I'd do it myself, but modern funding and projects, public or private, needs a team. I'm not a MD, and this project needs one.

Thumbs up Props to you Sire!

    Good on ya Sire!

Hope it all works out for you.

My wife has just started a new business to try to take care of some of the 'dispossessed youth' after the government, in it's wisdom, decided to cut all the funding for youth-clubs and after school activities... (I personally think she's a little bit nuts working with teenagers, but that's why I love her) No money provided or guaranteed, she and a friend have taken on setting up a new enterprise which everyone else tells her will fail, and so far, three months in, it seems all good.

So I totally believe it can be done, and if there's anyone here with the knowledge to get this thing from the 'back of a fag packet' to a prototype, then from what I hear, it's you!

Good on you and good luck with your endeavour!

I totally agree that what we're lacking is some (even slightly) adventurous people to kick start the monetary world moving again... Far too much 'doom & gloom' being bandied around IMO.

    WARNING : >>> RANT MODE ON <<<

Not a day goes by at the mo without a piece on the news about how the '...Euro-Zone is about to collapse...' or '...our countries economic growth is not what it should be...'
    REALLY!!!?!?!

And why would that be may I ask?

Could it be that you, as news-casters, keep telling everyone to stop spending their money because the world's about to go to hell in a hand basket??
Besides, they've been preaching this line for months now and guess what??
    The Euro is still floating!
Ireland, Spain & Greece are still here!
    My first-born son/daughter hasn't been raped by some unemployed, crack-addicted, AIDS-infected Pit-Bull terrier!
How about some good news for a change??
Oh wait, that doesn't sell news papers/ keep the politicians in power now does it... Keeping Joe Public scared sh**less is what keeps us all in line.
"...It'd be twice as bad if the other guy was in power! Vote to keep me in or it'll be the Pit-Bull for you!..."

Whatever happened to "Vote for me and I'll make it better!"???

    Sorry.

    Rant over.

    <<< RANT MODE OFF >>>
If in doubt... Give it a clout?

oh, ireland is doing just fine, spain i don't know, but i wouldn't put money on greece at the moment....

but in general, i am with you 100% on that rant. it is mainly the news-casters' fault, especially if they themselves (or their bosses) are part of finance organisations that bet and profit on economies collapsing

Way to go Sir Roberts, you show them how it's done!!!

    bump

I make my living consulting for big and small pharma on new new enzyme constructs and other molecular bio chem ( they useally call me when they are stuck). Sunday I was told my next project was pushed back 3 months. I've already put over a month in writing new SOPs and QC for them. Now what do I do? Midwest isn't exactly teeming for laser shows at the moment either. I plan what projects I take depending on where they are and how long. Errgh.
