Jayrob MAG LIGHT 2 Watt dual 32600 Battery Huge Heatsink Hand Held - $350

I built this for photo ops for my website (http://visiblediodelasers.com)

Unit has Flex Mod P3 Constant Current driver, 3 element glass AR coated lens and thermal compound to fill gaps. You will need to buy or fabricate charger for the included $30 each batteries.

I also have a Dorsy 255mW. 635nm CR123 lithium or Li-Ion 3.7 CR123 batt. Nice beam, glass AR lens, emits a stripe rather than spot, but very bright.

Thanks! Boy, that was quick! Probably going to make me accelerate the purchase of another blue 120v module from you! Like I said in the other thread, I miss the one I had. I legitimatley had a purpose to pop balloons with mine. I manage a banquet and conference center and when I have had back to back events on the same day and the first event has helium balloons that get loose and end up on the ceiling, lasers are a GREAT way to fire them down in a hurry before the next event. I got pretty good with firing a paperclip with a rubber band to get them to pop but... lasers are just plain *sexier*.

Wow, yes - huge kudos to you for 'setting a great-example'... Sorry if I came-across as 'prickish', especially since you prolly missed all the 'drama' awhile-back, but we (the PL-community..) had suffered a 'rash' of what I call 'ChOEMs' (Chinese-OEMs and others, heavily-spamming the forum, in the past year.. people signing up for accts *just* to sell-crap, and - worse - even going so-far as to 'spam-bomb' peoples thread-discussions... as-if they didn't have to ability to use Google / do their own homework / go-shopping for themselves, IF/when they needed something... It got incredibly-annoying, cuz one perp would get banned.... and 3-more would 'pop-up' from the same Co.. it was *really* annoying...

..So, yeah, some of us tend to be a 'little sensitive' when we see OEMs / sellers / eBay-hawkers, etc, just posting sales-stuff, w/O also contributing to the betterment of the forums, in SOME-way, whether informationally / R+D-wise, or, at-least, financially... Awesome to see you setting such a great-example, for others - even some long-time members - and supporting PL, at-least in 'that' way.. We look forward to hearing of your undoubted great 'backstories' / laser-adventures, and future info-contributions, from your experience(s).. Welcome-aboard!..

Is this laser 2W with the 3 element glass lens??? or si that output only attained with the 405-G-1 or 405-G-2 lens? I ask because if it is 2W as is then you can expect to crank out upward of 2.4W with the other lens and that my friend is a heck of a lot of blue coming out of a single 5.6mm diode.

Yes, it is a 3 element glass lens, very, very stable. I imagine a Jayrob lens would increase output by 10-15%

I still would like to sell this one. Let me know if you find anyone interested.

I would keep it, but I am lucky enough to have a great 445nm diode in a Jayron SH-032 putting out 2.2W with his G series lens and will NEVER part with it.

RDTech is the real deal. Received a very nice product from him today, shipped in perfect fashion. My first handheld and I am very impressed at such massive power with such a little light. +1 (I bought the original 1.6 advertised here about a week ago)

OK, What I have found is with proper heatsinking, they last a while, not the typical MTBF, but this maglight as you know of Jayrob's Kits, offer a superior heatsink size. Obviously it can not run until the 2 hugh batteries totally discharge. I have a SH-032 (with Jayrob's Heatsink & plenty of thermal epoxy) that has lased at 2100mW for over 6 months. I will never sell it, it is my baby. Laser diodes are finicky. The best diodes come from the center of the semiconductor wafer. They are culled by large manufacturers for high efficiency. Some will last longer, some shorter. Heat will kill them and reduce their MTBF, but yes, even with my small unit, it has lasted 1/2 year. Obviously not on all the time, but 1 min on a few off, no problem. Just my $0.02

A pointer can be quite enjoyable when used in a controlled environment. There has not been a LEM I've attended without at least a few high powered pointers lurking around.

Projector time vs pointer time mttf = irrelevant. Also, laser projectors do not do the "1 minute on and a few off"

I am not stating I am NOT overpowering the Laser diode. I'm quite aware it is not rated that high. I have been doing this for 25 years, as a laser / electronics engineer. If I TE cooled this and kept it at or below specs, bet you I'd get a plenty of time on it.

FYI - It's just a toy
