    Default Kryo Man - WTF?

    Hi folks,
Been away for a while, but good to be back and catching up on the forum.
I keep seeing this guy Kryo-man coming up in Youtube videos and I can't help but wonder how the hell he gets away with what he does.

Has anyone seen his act in person?

I don't want to be the "laser police" but I don't understand the sheer lack of regard for audience safety this guy has, and it's the same from show to show...
Personally, I think the robot suit is played out and corny as hell but that's another topic. I am seeing blatent close range blasting of strait beams from high powered pointers, right into people's faces.
    Example:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxP1jkGiPzc

(Skip to 5:25 for the face blasts)

    Another example:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z717h...eature=related

Would love to see his show variance for this...can anyone dig up a variance at all for this dude?

I love how clubs spend thousands of dollars to have this guy show up for 15 min.
Not jealous of his invention, just peeved at the arrogance and blatent rule breaking that happens every time this guy performs.

I can't legally scan a crowd in the USA with a 1W fast moving beam from a certified projector, yet he can point a "light saber-ish" strait 445 beam wherever he pleases. No 3 meter rule applies to this guy. Why, because he's a "performer"?

    Any thoughts?

The 5:25 shot to the faces, IMO should be criminal. That is relatively close and Definitely within burn range. This is all OBVIOUSLY dangerous and against every known rule of Laser safety in the USA. However, like we all joke about- If the FDA doesnt know about you, they cant punish you.

I hate to say it, but if us PRO (and law/safety abiding hobbyists) dont start "ratting" illegal and/or dangerous shows out to the authorities, we are HELPING the problems. We need to start taking blatantly obviously dangerous shows and illegal systems and reporting them. the FDA *IS* investigating and doing what it is supposed to do when it comes to things like this. I know first hand. They cant investigate a problem and do anything about it if they dont know anything about it.

What a f..... ing asshole. This is outrageous.

If you look closely some people raise their hands to protect themselves as an automatic reaction on the bright beams. Andrew and mark your absolutly right. The FDA has to know about this guy for sure. Who has good contacts with the FDA to let them know that they can take action to prevent him from peforming again ? Its just a matter of a few peformances and one or more of the spectators will be blind for his whole live. Please guys one of you pick up the phone and take this to the FDA. This is something that needs action. I hope someone is willing to take action on this

wow i thought i had seen some bad shows but that is bad. i would rather sit in front of a projector than be in a crowd with this guy.
Atleast the projector is keeping the beam moving compared to the full power static beams.
Seeing as this guy has done large shows in las vegas i think its time we rattle the monkey cage and see what happens.
I might feel better if he was using powers of under 50mw but i highly doubt it.

..and *no*, if you report the guy / they decide to do-something, this does not mean that, 'great, now, *all* handhelds will be banned / laser shows will become illegal', etc.. the FDA knows the 'difference' between the bozos / hacks / truly unsafe-people / installs / shows, vs all the 'legit' uses for handhelds / laser-shows done-right, etc...

..but like Marc said, if they don't know, they won't act.. IMO, if there was more enforcement, there would (in-theory..) be *less* incidents... If even ONE Co. / person got the $300K-snot fined out of them / it was highly-publicized / plastered all-over the news, that should help.. (..again, in-theory.. ) ...of course, you'll never stop ALL the idiots, and, 'ya can't fix stupid'... but.. ya gotta *try*..

I totally agree. That,s why someone has to pick up the phone and report this to the FDA so that they can take action before the next show of that idiot. Please can someone take action on this?

Yeah, he tours with David Guetta... We told him his lasers were illegal to use in the USA and his reply was, "it isn't legal almost anywhere I perform, I just do it without telling anyone and always get away with it."

its people like him who make people with diy projectors who know and obey all the rules they can look bad.
I would love to get my projector variances and i do plan to. Have i used with without it, yes.
It was in the in use with another laser company who had some experiance with shows and let me pop my cheery by running with them.
But people like him are going to make things alot worse.
If i ever come to his show and that laser hits me in the eye i will have his ass in court.

The video has definitely been artificially saturated in my opinion, you can see the tell tale jaggedness and artefacts you usually get with overuse of saturation / contrast controls in the blue beams.

That said, you can't take away from the fact that these appear to be 445nm blue which usually means 500mw-1W power from the most dangerous colour.

It seems that some people are potentially getting it into their eyes from as little as 2 metres or so. I didn't witness any of it caught on video as I only skimmed a couple of sections but in the bit I saw, the lasers appeared to be down into the front of the crowd albeit the crowd in the bits I viewed were just off camera. Given these are static beams (or at least in terms of movement, hand movement is far less than eg 30k scan speed), this looks very dangerous to me.

I reported also on the FDA site:

    Dear MR or MRS

I,m a member of photonlexicon i recently saw a performance by Kryoman on youtube with bluelaserpointers attached to his arms that are well over 5mw and dangerously going directly into the audiance:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxP1jkGiPzc

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z717h...eature=related

    His website: http://www.kryoman.com/

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kryom...t/164690941131

    http://twitter.com/kryoman

I,m from outside the USA ( the netherlands )
But i,m worried about that someone in the audiance will loose his eyesight. Its only a matter of time and he will blind someone and so i hope this can be prevented by this report so action can be taken. Imagine your daughter or son standing in the crowd and loose his sight by this guy.
Please take action before its to late.

Hope this helps. Mixed gas thanks for the info. I understand kryoman is from Newyork?

Kryoman is from the UK from what I gathered when he called me about building a "laser mohawk"... I think he decided to go with someone else because i kept on enforcing "these are not legal for use in the USA."

He is performing with Tiesto in this video. Surely Tiesto's management would be on to safety?

Are you sure his lasers are as powerful as you think?

TBH unless its their own exclusive concert, many top stars simply do sets and the lighting management etc is down to the club management. I've seen a few top names at a local night where laser powers were unchecked.

As for powers who knows, but if they're 445nm, the lowest I managed to modulate my 1W 445 at is 20% before it went out. Assuming it to be linear in response, that's potentially 200mw. We all know the usual power for 445nm is 500-1000mw.

"KRYOMAN — Known by most as “the robot” that has been rocking dance floors all over the globe since early in 2005. Originaly the brainchild of Andrew Moore (carrer performer and special fx artist) and Alejandro Gonzales, (the inventor of the Kryosystem) is the first and only portable Kryogenic System in the world. Together combined with a million function L.E.D Robotic suit, 100mw lazers and a full intergrated Pyrotechnic special FX system makes KRYOMAN the ultimate Club Show."

okay so if he uses 100mw lasers its not as bad as first thought but still i would not want to be there.
Lets hope hes using 100mw lasers and maybe found a way to keep powers low and safe for the crowds sake.

I think we are all more than 95% sure that those blues were at minimum 500mW. Probably closer to possibly 2W.

"only portable Kryogenic System in the world"? Did I fail the part about what he is doing? Is it not just a fire extinguisher?

It's MORE than just a fire extinguisher...

It's a portable Kyyogenic System with a Flux Capacitor (tm), triple-twistle-pistol-valves and overhead fluffy dice.
