I don't want to just cut off the schuko connector and wire on an edison plug to test it.
Aren't you going to have to do this anyway, to get power from the transformer to the Powercon?

Glad to see you've dived right in...

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

No, you would simply plug your device with the schuko plug into the step up power transformer, which then has a wire with edison plug that goes to your US mains.

Yeah... I'm sitting here with a new edison plug itching to cut the wire, replace the plug and try it out but, the transformer will actually be here tomorrow so, (sigh)... I'll be patient and wait until I have a definitive answer from Kvant or, continue to delve further into digging out the three supplies inside and checking each one.

    Do this one (imho)

Learn your little beasty inside out, that way, when it breaks down, you will be able to tear it apart much quicker to resolve the issue.

I'm sure there's a speech from Full Metal Jacket that would be appropriate here....

That's what I did with mine when I installed the interlock loop... and replaced the green laser. Tore it down until all it had was a bottom plate with two PSUs, the red/blue driver, and a break out board.

    I loved Full Metal Jacket.

    An answer!

    Hello,

The system should be operateable from 100VAC to 240VAC. ONly older machines were
equipped by AC transformer for scanners (toroidal transformer) and these types
were not able to operate at 110VAC level. Please check if there is a toroidal
transformer inside (Diam >80mm and height >50mm) and if it is not there, you can
run it at 110VAC level without any problem.

    Thanks, Peter.

I didn't see anything inside like what he described so... photons away!

(Just to confirm, EU wiring is blue = neutral, brown = hot and green/yellow is ground, correct?)

The working power range is always written on the device charger. Plugging a 220v equipment into 110v wouldn't be too bad, it's the other way round that would blow stuff up.

Wow... old thread. Just as an update, the power supplies were all switching but, the initial board that the AC power went to controlled the display for temps, fan speed and such and had a 220v relay that was finally replaced by DZ a few months ago. Only glitch now is after I received it back in the mail, something may have come loose in shipping and there is a ground wire problem that I haven't been able to trace. We're going to get it taken care of at SELEM in a few weeks and then, quite possibly this projector will be up for sale. The only value in a 1.6 Spectrum any more is sadly the 6215's so, I'll have lost my ass on this purchase.
