1.5W RGB Build Thread

I have just got into the full swing of finishing up my 1.5W RGB laser projector (was waiting for the final parts to come in and now everything is here). Goal is to have it completely finished in a week or less, then start on a 4W RGB laser projector. I will try to post updates throughout the whole process on each day.

Lasers:
Red: 2x 250mW diode extracted from LPC-826 (660nm)
Green: 1x 150-200mW DPSS w/ TTL (532nm)
Blue: 1x 1000mW diode extracted from M-140 (445nm)

Scanners: PT-30

All lasers and galvos are on height adjustable platforms with stop nuts.

Well that 80mph wind storm that hit Ohio on June 29th left me at without power for several days, so I am just starting to get back into finishing the build. Finished all the drilling tonight, will post pictures tomorrow (edit: forums are not letting me upload pictures).

I feel even worst for the owners of all the stage equipment for a fireworks show called Tattoo that I attend each year on that day. The stage almost gets blown over and their jumbotron gets trashed (video: http://www.whiotv.com/videos/news/ra...-storms/vcZmw/). If that storm hit 2 hours later there would have been thousands of people there.

That's great! What are you using for the case? It looks like a prefab aluminum box, how big is it and care to share where you got it? It fits very nicely in the aluminum brief case as well, perfect for travel!

Got it from www.newark.com (Part #: 06M4375 and 06M4481). It is 17"x13"x5". Yesterday, I did have to epoxy in black anodized aluminum to terminate the beams behind each dichro and above the scanners.

My five year old digital camera was unable to get any good pictures of the beams. All of the beams looks beautiful in person (especially the yellow which is the one I was worried about), but the pictures give it no justice.

What camera settings do you use to capture beams?

Very, very nice. As I am 3/4 of the way into my first build, I have a much better appreciation of studying photos of others. Great job! It shows the hobbiest ingenuity (sp.) and a simple clean layout.
