I am looking to buy a DAC with software, new or used I don't care as long as it is working. Even if it is a "build it yourself" kit. Also, I am understanding that Ishow 2.3 is indeed a POS and waste of money? Any insight would be great.

hi macostanti,
i strongly you suggest you pick up LSX (laser show express) and an etherdream dac. they are both developed and supported by members of this forum.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
Wow quick reply! I will check that out. This is all new to me. However, the little l have learned was from snooping through these forums. I decided to join, there seems to be alot of knowledge here..... "knowledge is power" and thats what I need. Thank you for your reply swamidog
I see that LSX+Etherdream is no Mickey Mouse setup....... with a no Mickey Mouse price also. Anyone out there that has such a system that would like to sell, please contact me.

Is there any possible way of me building a DAC and using some generic software?
Uh.........
LaserBoy!
There is only one example of exactly what you just described.

All software has a learning curve usually proportional to its capabilities and unique features. Pointing with a mouse is in no way easier than tapping a key.

LaserBoy can do a lot of things that are useful to laser art in general, but it is really designed to work with waves and a modified sound card, aka LaserBoy DAC. It will allow you to open up (or create) a whole bunch of frames and convert that into a wave file that, when played through any wave player that can do multi-chanel waves will send the signals to the DAC.
It compiles and runs in just about every OS (exactly the same). It comes with a Windows exe.
It comes with all the source code in C++ and a nice set of frames.
