Default Novalux proter(DPSS 488nm) lasers for sale.

So i have had this thread up for a few monthed on LPF with no luck.

Ok so here’s a short summery on these lasers. Based on what I have found

The protera laser heads were designed and built by Novalux back in 2002 and 3

The lasers are VERY temperature sensitive and they had the company Vuemetrix build a computer controlled driver to run them. An engineer at Vuemetrix ( he told me he was the one who wrote the program for them many years back) told me over the phone when I tried to get a copy of the software.
    It never worked
some worked great exactly as designed however most either did not work or worked in a crippled state
    He never figured out why.
    (Unknown info)
Somewhere along the way Laser2000 Germany built a black brick style driver for them.
Each laser wants a different temperature in order to lase so each driver was tuned to a head and the drivers were labeled to match the head.
    (Unknown info)

Somehow the heads and drivers got mixed up.

That is where I come in.
Junktronix sent me his heads and a breakout box so I could tune them.

There or 2 pots inside in charge of crystal Temperature (TEC on crystal) and main TEC.
(These do not affect diode current I’m Not Pot moding Like it was believed in my review)
Using a breakout box he sent me I Started at the coldest setting for the crystal tec and warmed it up until the laser flashed the brightest and I would write town the temperature that it was reading at the flash. Then I would to the best I could (remember these lasers were already crippled from the start) tune it stable(ish) at that temperature.

And finally now that I (Think) I fixed my power meter here is what you have all been waiting for

    Now for the power.
Laser head 1 and 4 work the best and the brightest.
    • laser 1 17mW peak ----Price $300
    • laser 2 ( Coming soon )---- Make offer
    • laser 3 ( Coming soon )----$100 (do to power drop this one will be the cheapest)
    • laser 4 ( Coming soon )----Make offer

    __________________________________________________ _______________________
Now for the bad news They all drop in power over time some faster than others
This is after les than 4 minutes and laser head 3 dropped to almost nothing

I also have ones with broken TECs (wich means diode block is loose) that still emit IR. Maybe candidates for a DIY project

Edit: Here are some pics of the inside of the head. (These are from my old review.)

    Power graphs to come soon

Here are some pics of the diode I extracted

    here is bare diode

    Again prices are
    • laser 1 17mW peak ----Price $300
    • laser 2 ( Coming soon )---- Make offer
    • laser 3 ( Coming soon )----$100 (do to power drop this one will be the cheapest)
    • laser 4 ( Coming soon )----Make offer

I have interest but price per mW vs. a real argon ion laser isn't there sadly.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

True but I'd like to see an argon this small :P

Then adjust your price to suit... I don't mind large frame ions bring on the water coolers!
