i'm always on the lookout for new and interesting music. pop 40 gives me hives and the only radio allowed in my house is npr. i mostly listen to rhythmic world music and trashy disco sex music like thrill kill kult.
i don't even bother pretending to like dub-step. no one really does. it's just an act.
my friend karen schnaubelt (from custom-con) recently introduced me to the music of s.j. tucker. specifically, the song "we are shangri-la".
it lit up my receptor sites something fierce.
to me, the hardest part of making a laser show is selecting the music and i just got handed some good stuff.
rizard asked about laser show music in a post (http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...884#post254884) and that got us talking about different styles of laser artwork and how it might be fun for a group of artists to do shows to the same piece of music.
buffo kindly agreed to block out some time in the auditorium for us to run some shows, so here's the plan.
1) grab the song from here: http://music.sjtucker.com/track/we-a...erald-city-mix. you have to purchase it, but it's a "name your price" purchase and it costs less than a latte.
2) make an awesome laser show. graphics, abstracts, beams, spinning mirrors, lumia, or just by glueing flashlights to craig.. i'm about half done with mine, i just need more glue.
3) post your status here so i can organize things and make buffo's life a little less complicated when selem happens.
as drew carey reminds us "the game is made up and the points don't matter". this is not a competition and this is not a religious war about artistic styles or show creation applications. this is not collaboration. we are all doing discrete shows, and it's just for fun.
if you're not going to selem, you can still contribute. just post your videos here.
