Default Pair of oxford lasers CU-10 copper vapour lasers (One known working)

    Hi All,

Ryan here from Reading Hackspace ( http://rlab.org.uk ).

We've decided to sell our copper vapour lasers to make room for bigger and badder-ass laser projects.

http://rlab.org.uk/wiki/Projects/Copper has some pictures, and I'll endeavour to put some more up there in the next little while.

We have two pretty much identical CU10 lasers, but we've only run up and tested one of them. Anyone at the last UKLEM can vouch for the working-ness of it.

Asking for £1500 for the pair. The hackspace REALLY needs the room, but we're also trying to plug a bit of a funding gap. Will be sad to see these unique toys go.

Message me if you're interested at all or email me at ry dot white le g of le mail ting.

(keep in mind you'll need a bottle of neon. Laser uses about 0.5 L/Hr, I think...)

    !!

It's a shame that I wouldn't be able to maintain such a lovely laser. Though I am interested in seeing some pictures.

    I've only seen DIY CuBr's.

Plus the shipping would be monstrous.

Maintenance?! What's that!? These really 'just work!'

Please note, these aren't CuBr's, they're straight up copper vapours (no halogens to make it easier to disassociate or whatever)

I could palletize them? But they run on 240....

Maintenance being the refilling of it's neon source.

I live in a dorm, so my testing and research is limited to 110V single phase..

I am in the UK and would take them off your hands if you cant sell them-I would pick them up from you. This is just a worst case-I hope they go for some cash. Are these 240v single phase?

@laserist123. Yes, i believe they are. Ryan had one of them at the LEM in April. Unbelievable colour (and output)

Hi! Cool of you to offer, it's really the space AND the money that the project needs. We just bought 2x150 W YAG's, one DPSS one lamp-pumped for doing selective laser sintering and laser welding

We could set up an easy payment plan if I knew you were going to do something interesting with them! They're 240 single phase, but need a neon bottle which you can get easily from BOC gas (just call them to set up an account, much easier than doing anything online, they're actually quite helpful on the phone and even offered to mix up some HF+H+Ne as a buffer gas for kinetic enhancement when I asked!)

Send me a PM with an offer, whatever you think is fair, and we'll talk! These things are truly awesome fun, and I'd love to see someone do something interesting with them.

I would love to follow whatever happens with these, from the buyer.

If it weren't for the ocean between us, and the power requirements, I'd have been all over this.
