    Default 1W 520nm Nichia Laser Diode TEST

    Hi guys,

    Today my 1W 520nm Nichia diode arrived. An amazing piece of green

    As you can see the pins are not placed in the center which makes it a bit tricky to mount with standard brass mounts where the pin hole at the backplate is placed in the center but it works.

    For all tests I used an aspheric lens with an NA=0,53 and FL=4,6mm
    As correction optics I´ve chosen anamorphic prisms and set them up for 2x mangification.

    Without correction the beam at the output is a little bit tighter as of the 1,6W 445nm diode. The threshold current is about 300mA. I´ve only driven it to 1W behind the lens @ 1600mA. According to the datasheet the max. current is 1,8A but there is no operation current given. So I did not drive it above. Another reason is that I only got 1pc.

    Thank you very much for posting these results. Much appreciated. This proofs the diode is a perfect replacement for a DPSS green.

    awesome news thanks for posting , look forward now to the prices dropping to <$200

    will take some months or maybe a year. the mass production will start by the end of March.

    Looks great but the diodes are too expensive so far. Not sure but how great does the orange and yellow look with this diode?

    lasertack, I love you I've been looking for this info for a while now, as the specs sheets I've seen surface for this diode have been lackluster at best.

    Also, PM incoming about the pin placement.

    If I understand your measurement, it is possible to have a 3.5mm beam width and 0.6mrad of divergence? (with a x4 magnification)

    What is the height of the beam at the output?


    Next step : set the temperature at 0°C and try @t 2500mA .

    I dont know what the best possible result is. I had to do it quick for my customer. Had not much time to play with. It´s up to you to put it into liquid nitrogen and shoot 100A through it

    Could be a nice experiment. Maybe I need to visit my old university

    this projector is a beamshow projector with uncorrected green and bleu diode I-shape and correcte 638nm
