Argh. Whenever I'm ready to put something in, something better always comes out. I'm going to wait until 2025, then build my final projector. Or maybe 2030 .. by then, we'll have 50 Watt laser diodes ..

I sent them an email to see if they actually have them in stock and available for shipping.

Did you find out if these babies are in stock, or was it just vapordiodeware?

They are in stock. But these have been mostly determined to be the dual output beam diodes. So the diode puts out 2 separate beams that you will need to join back into one beam. So it would probably still be easier and cheaper to align two mitsu 500mw diodes.

Ok, thanks. That is good to know. Back to Planter's idea of wavelength multiplexing.

Just remember that when the Melles Griot 2.5Watt Green DPSS lasers came out they had 2 beams coming out of them as well, yet those became the industry standard for mid powered green for YEARS. 2 beams coming out is easy to handle, a simple knife edge mirror and PBS cube and it's fixed.

For me it is probably easier to setup and align two single diodes than this one. Hopefully someone will grab one and come up with a nice setup. I also read thermal management was a little more difficult with this diode. But I cant confirm.

Yea one supplier I was talking with said they gave up on trying to build a red module with the sample diode they got saying it was just easier to work with the P73's. It is unfortunate I would like to have seen these be the next step but they may fall more in the flashlight fail section.
