    Default New Laser Video

I just finished installing a DPSS laser that will be used to pump dyes, quantum dots and Raman lasers. The laser is so powerful that we couldn't resist cutting the odd razor blade, potato chip...you know. This is in no way a technical, "how to" video, just a bit of fun. Hope you enjoy it.

    140Watts???? Holy shit.
Did you make this just to have the most visible laser out there? Whats the beam diameter?

This is a pump laser and there are brighter lasers out there. The beam at aperture is 2cm in diameter. At low power (<15W)the divergence is less than 1 mrad. At mid power (<50W) the divergence is 2.5mrad and at full power the divergence is 4-5mrad.

My suggestion is to bring the laser to NELEM in October, set it up with a slow galvo scanner, put the pig on a rotating servo motor, and roast the pig with the laser, hopefully not too crisp! I can burn a small hole with my 25 watt RGB in a razor blade, but you can weld stuff with that one!
