I believe it's the name of Pangolins new range of laser software that's still under development.

Apparently there's some pretty good stuff coming - There's been a couple of hint's at what's in store, but I guess we'll all just have to be patient...

I found this from Bill Brenner:

Yes, BEYOND is the name of a software package we are working on.

Let's just say that it will allow you to do new things in a new way, and that we have discovered a new way of controlling a laser beam. It is fully compatible with our existing QM2000 and FB3 hardware, but I don't want to say too much more about it right now.

The whole purpose of the banner was to be a kind of "teaser". To get people thinking -- hey, what is this thing and what does it do. Well, I can see from your reaction that we are accomplishing this goal .

From what I have read, Beyond is going to blow LivePRO out of the water, and then some

    Err.... Why is it sad?

There's nothing that says you're going to get the new equivalent of LivePRO for free. On the other hand, if you've purchased LivePRO you'll more than likely get a free upgrade. One thing i've learned about Pangolin is that they have a very fair and clear upgrade path with their software, I can't see them deliberately upsetting those very customers who support them by upgrading their software to gain more features.

I didn't say they were deliberately trying to upset customers.

Maybe you'll understand what i mean when i make a comparison.

When you buy Adobe Photoshop CS2 a month before CS3 is released, you won't get a free update to CS3 ...

I think you guys are getting the wrong image here.
I'm not against pangolin. I think that beyond will be even better than livepro. I just would be bummed when i had bought livepro and then two months later see beyond appeared that's all.

But Adobe don't do free upgrades to newer versions of their software - Pangolin do

I used to be an avid user of Adobe products for DTP work. I was well p*ssed off on more than one occasion when I had just purchased an upgrade only for it to be almost immediately outdated. I eventually switched over to Serif products, which were far superior anyway. It was just one upmanship that kept DTP houses loyal to Adobe.

Pangolin have never been (or I don't think ever will be) the sort of company to hack off their customers, the laser business is relatively small and I personally have found that they bend over backwards to help their customers, something that cannot be said of Adobe.

I understand your point about adobe, but even when pangolin offers free updates, we're talking about an entirely new product ...

Yes, but if it follows the same format of previous software such as LD2000 Intro, Basic and Pro. There's every chance that LD2000 Pro users will get the full software functionality with the new 'Beyond' software, Basic users will get basic features etc.

If Bill sees this thread i'm sure he'll jump in and perhaps add a comment or two

Speculation isn't the most accurate way to get information , wuahaha

It looks like the BEYOND software is tageted towards the REAL pro's who make biggershows with different media.

Pyrotechnics isn't really something that amateurs setoff and sync electricly.
I have done this in the past... it isnt easy

Anthony, Bill has already said on here that the Fb3 software was going to be replaced by something new that was easier to use. To me this is a strong hint given for Beyond "we've discovered a new way of controlling a laser" that Beyond will have both Professional and Consumer versions.

However, we'll have to wait for an official announcement to know for sure.

    RGB,

I must have missed that post...(i registered in july)
If that is right....it makes things interesting because i'm ready to order a FB3 package.

Already send bill/william a mail for the ordering info for the LAfreak package.

Maybe it is wise for me to ask bill about the Beyond software.
    I'm a resonable patient man. :-)

    Lets hear from bill

I can't find the post now but was pretty sure he said it. Something about making FB3 easier to use. Maybe I just imagined it, wishful thinking.

Anyway, if it did exist, wasn't a direct reference to Beyond but it would seem logical that if they've found a new way of controlling the beams then it would probably be easier to use. Otherwise wouldn't relly be any advantage to changing anything.

I remember him saying something about them coming out with something soon that will make everything else obsolete. Not sure how to take that but I can't afford to replace everything I have so it will just have to be obsolete.

Just let us not get ahead of things.......

I'm sure pango isn't going to make everything obsolete...
Your "gear" is working now? i won't magicly stop working when something new gets introduced.

windows XP and 98 still work fine..... and vista is here some time now.
    You catch my drift?

The quote that RGB posted... clearly stated that the beyond software is fully compatible with existing pango QM2K and FB3 hardware.
So i think it is the New sotware thats going to blow everything else out of the water.

I almost feel sorry for posting the BEYOND topic and asking about it.
We might jump to conclusions way to fast.

We were *suppose* to get a sneak peak of Beyond at SELEM, but that didn't happen... Guess we'll just have to wait a little bit longer. From what I understand, the new Beyond will run on the QM2K, but I'm not sure about the FB3, I suspect it will. I'm kinda glad to know that the hardware may not change since I think the QM2K is worth its weight in gold... I remember when the QM2K first came out, I had just bought a QM32 pro card off the street, went and saw the new QM2K at a pangolin meet, the first show was an all raster show called Linea, I knew I should have waited!

Lets hope when they launch BEYOND the they change the names , i have always been confused by the naming of their existing software ...it does not make sense to me :-)

    Proff $4995
    Basic $2495
    Intro $1495

To me basic , means BASIC , it has negative connotations of being the lowest spec of the range , the name implies it should be cheaper than Intro , also calling anything basic is an automatic negative selling point

Ok lets HELP pangolin ...( like they need it eh ) lets name their new software for them hehehe

Pangolin BEYOND Stealth- ( wireless-just invented new product range ..now i have done the hard work coming up with the name it upto you guys to do the easy bit and make the product now :-) )

    Pangolin BEYOND QM2 - ( QM2)
    Pangolin BEYOND PRO- (proff)
    Pangolin BEYOND PROLITE- (basic)
    Pangolin BEYOND INTRO- (intro)
Pangolin BEYOND LIVE- ( Livepro )
    Pangolin BEYOND Lite - ( FB3 Kit)

Yeah your right , i didnt put a HUGE amount of thought into those did I..maybe i should try again

Pangolin BEYOND Invisable ( wireless )
Pangolin BEYOND Ultimate - Buffos Lasergasmic Edition
    Pangolin BEYOND Voyager - ( QM2.net)
    Pangolin BEYOND Raptor - ( QM2)

Has anyone developed a lens system that would be right before the galvo (close) and would be able to adjust the rgb convergence on the fly?
