    Default Scan Angle Calculator

    Hi All,

After seeing Rob's excellent scanangle chart, it got me off by butt to write a scan-angle calculator. You put in whatever distance you're scanning at, and the desired angle you want to scan at, and it tells you the image size you need. I think it would work best with a square of the ILDA test pattern. I wrote this because all the scan angle charts are for specific distances.

If you find problems or have some ideas to make it better (or you think it sucks), please let me know.

Just unzip it to wherever you want and run it.

    I completely aprove ! !
    but have a sugestion...

lets say i have a 10 inch square thats 8 feet away and i want to know the CURRENT scan angle...

the EXE should take ANY 2 measurements and give me the 3rd (just a thought)

Its simple math anyway but being able to not think about is nice

    Hi All,

    The updated version is attached.

Put in any 2 values and click "Calculate".

As far as US/Metric... If you put in feet, the answer will be in feet. Same for centimeters, furlongs, leagues, yards, etc. (Angle will always be in degrees ). You can't input different units, however. Distance in feet and image size in inches won't work.

A cool thing is (if you know your scan angle and image size), it will calculate how far you are away from the image... a built-in tape measure!

Let me know about problems or suggestions.

ok here is my next idea...
a measurement unit dropdown on distance and size
so distance could be in feet or inches or metric crap, whatever

easy way to do that is make everything convert to 1 measurement unit (like inches) in the software, do the math and output it to the user in whatever version of the measurement he wants

and it needs a cool icon.
