Default ILDA over UTP cable ?

A few weeks ago Medialas announced their new version 2.0 of Mamba.
In that same press announcement they told that 2.0 also supports their Network interface, to connect your laser using UTP cable to a box.
It said also older lasers could be fitted with this modification.

I have asked them for inquiries, what this box costs, and additional info like 3 weeks ago. Until now, no answer. I thought maybe someone here knows or has more information how this works ?

    Question USB over IP

Hi Hobbybob, I know you have an Easylase interface.
Maybe you can hook it up to this device: http://www.lindy.co.uk/2-port-usb-ov...ver/42929.html

    Interesting tip Dixiscan...
Will look into it, also have an HP printserver for USB, maybe this could also work ?

Right now i started on soldering the Framestreamer i bought from SmogtheMog.
Excellent kit, but i have some questions, so mailed Norm about it.
And parallel to that i am also PM'ing Virus X who has his one already running ...

If you're interested in USB over CAT 5, you might want to check out a review I did some time ago:

    Aha, Norms Framestreamer.
Please remember, X/Y have just a 8-bit resolution, the EasyLase has 12-bit. So, 8 bit means 2^8 = 256 steps horizontal and vertical, 12-bit has 4096 steps.
Also the max. scanrate is limited to 30kpps instead of EasyLase' 60Kpps.
Are the outputs shortcut proof as well?

At least the Framestreamer is much cheaper than the EasyLase.

    Hey Stuka,
Did you ever run the FB3 successfully (scanner and all)? I could not tell from the thread whether or not that happened.
How about this for a $100 option: Buy an old used laptop, then network it to your "actual" laptop- use a wireless router if you want. The cheapie laptop would have the usb device connected locally. Use "Remote Desktop" to run/control your software. Not so elegant, but it might do in an emergency. Speaking of emergency though, it does not provide direct access to software shutoff, so you would need to cover that base with your hardwired e-stops etc.
    Thanks, Mike
