    Default Smog's 'not quite so' monster(ette) RGY(B) re-build :)

Well, after a brief and very well timed 'work' visit to Mr WaxStan's house today, I got there at 11:30 and the parcel was delivered smack on 12:00 midday, I came away, not only with a sore arse but with my very new and very sexy Laserwave 250mW 473

Robert of the Wax did me proud on this and the remaining optics I would be needing for the re-build of my 2W RGY.

The blue @ 250mW won't quite be big enough to be able to run with the 1W Viasho 532 and the 1W of 635 flat out, it's all I could afford at the time, but with them halted back a little should go on nicely to produce a nice RGB analog projector.

I swapped this 'Insanity' case, scanners & 1W Viasho for the CuBr I had and later added the 1W of 635 to it to make it RGY.

The 473 will sit where the 532 module now sits and the 532 will go in the spare hole that is there now.
The base plate is being replaced with a new 10mm Ally one with a new set of DT40pro's up front. The Viasho PSU will be OEM'ed with all cct boards at the bottom.
The whole optics chamber, not including the modules, will be sealed thus keeping out all the dirty nasties.
unfortunately the projector won't be ready in time for the UKLEM5 but WILL be done for the UKLEM5.5 in December

    Bad choice of words there!

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Just a few more pics of the re-build also showing the strip down of the Viasho 532 PSU.
I have had a few PC/Laptop problems this week which has set me back a little but I am still plodding on with it when I can

I am having to add extra ally heatsinking to where the DT40Pro drivers will sit at the bottom as I don't think the thermal heat passage will be very good from them through to the painted steel surface of the case. I am mounting them, via thermal paste, onto a peice of ally which is then bolted down to the case.
I don't really want to move the 635 PSU as it is established where it is as it has all the fan wiring going back to it and will save me a job if I dont move it!
It will be a tight fit but I think it will all go in eventually

The first pic shows the 532 PSU and driver which will be a nice sized package to deal with in the fitting of everything.
The second shows the ally driver sink and the position of the drivers.
The third shows the removed original base plate with the 532 and the 635 still attached. I originally said I was going to not move the position of the 635 but I may try and fit the 473 on the RH side, looking from the front, to try and lower as much as possible any dichro/mirror losses from it's output.
Left to right - 532, 635 and then the 473

A few more photo's from today work showing the OEM,ing of the Viasho PSU by means of removing it from the case, de-wiring and removing the head socket from the case and attaching the laser head fly lead directly to the PSU/driver. I will be removing the LED display completely and hard wiring the analog/TTL & LED display switch directly at the board thus removing the need of the switches.
The variable power pot will be mounted on the back of the projector somewhere.

The PSU/driver and it's fan will sit along side the 2x scanner driver boards at the front end of the lower case area.

The wiring was also considerably tidied up as it was in a poor state, fresh from the factory
The last pic shows what it WAS like!

It all still works when mains is applied so i remain a happy man ...... For now
