Laser Warning 300 mw R-G-B Chinese Projector $399.00

Well I thought I would try the $399.00 Chinese department Store add of the R-G-B 300mw projector claiming +30kpps. It takes about 2 weeks to ship and they jacked me around on the shipping so far. I will see if it is as stated and if not tear it down and re build. OR JUST RETURN TO THEM> I will let you know if it is any good if any one might be intrestade. I will test it and let you know the effects are. Any one else tried this one?? John

if it goes and puts out light, 400$ ? sounds ok , im planning to try a 610mw model they have, its 560us i think, basic ILDA and dmx and violet , is fine for 50-150 people, small promoters love that, i think its also ideal for a learner to pull a running laser apart...

Some Chinese projectors are ideal to buy and rebuild. I bought an RGB system made by LKI in China (LK-MC2) and it has been working great for some time now. It uses all CNI modules (300mW 650nm, 100mW 532nm, 50mW 473nm, all over spec) and the 30k galvo system is quite well tuned. the green must be dialed back a tad for the best white, but that's no problem since it averages ~140mW. The system costs around $1600 with analog modulation, but if you went to distributors to buy all the same parts to build a projector it would likely cost an individual more than that.

Yes thats a good idea! Tare it apart Then they can learn that there is no scanfailure and other safety,s in those projectors an d see that they are quit dangerous. Hopefully they learn that to buy a safe projector.

No denying that they are dangerous, that's why it's best to rebuild them.. There's also no denying that they can be a quick and economical way to get most of the parts you need to build your own and then add your own safety features to your design. Provided, of course, that you know who to buy from. Some of us here on PL would rather build than buy..

Thats is a smart idea elektrofreak. Rebuild it and at least build in a scanfailure. You save enough this way to make it safe

    Thumbs up Sanity??

Hi Again, I am a beginner at this but I love it and I see I am on the right track. No one said it was going to be a cheap hoby. but I thought I was loosing my sanity with the thought of buying this if nothing else for the optics and parts. Even if the shipping was $85.00.
The Blue Ray 50mw may look a little shy on power and might have to bump it up with a 100mw.
I plan on using it with Mamba and Music shows as I am a DJ for a hobby at 63. I project it on a higher wall above the people and don't point anything at them. Eagles flying to music goes over nicley (fly liike an eagle) Thanks for your feed back guys. John

Hi John, when you get the projector, please could you measure the dimensions inside the case, and take a few photos for us? Of course, I'm not expecting much of the components or build quality inside, but it is a very cheap way to start with RGB!

You can upload the pictures to your album here on PL. Then you just copy the link provided with the photo to the post. to find your album, click on your username at the top of the post and select "view public profile". Your album will be on the right-hand side of the page under your friends list. Opening an album will reveal an "upload pictures" option.

I'm impressed! That's a damn nice looking projector for $400 even though it is just 405nm RGB. Can you please provide beam and graphics pics?

Is that the same unit that's on eBay brand new right now?

    http://cgi.ebay.nl/400mW-RGB-DJ-PART...item3a52f5c80c

Might make some good sattellite units or smaller rental units for DJ gigs.

    Thumbs up Laser shows

Hi I will send pictures of the shows when I can get it tuned to Mamba on the right blanking effect. But it dose run Halloween Spectacular nicley. I just got ahold of Susie with O-like and they are comming up with a replacement 120-150mw 405nm industrial modual to replace the 50wm unit in this projector. the 50mw 405 is lightweight. It is nice for the price as a R-G-B starter. Have a great day. John H

Hmmm - rather nice for the price!!!

Can't wait to see the video's of it running.

£580 for two 300mW RGV projectors to flank my 2.2W RGB , would look rather nice!!

I am very impressed with the internals for the price also!!

This looks an interesting buy at the next level:

    610mw TTL RGB (405) and 40K scanners

think I rather buy two of the $400 ones and upgrade the violet myself... these would make a great set of flank projectors so primarily for beams - where the scanner speed is not really that important

    hiya

firstly id like to put z little warning out about CDS. its not the company its self its the shipping of there products.

i bought a 200mw laser from them and was very impressed with it. its a great product for the price and when arrived was over spec.

the problem was when it arrived in the uk it came via port to port to make shipping cheaper. when it arrived in manchester a company decided that they were going to sign for it at customs and put it in storage on behalf of CDS and myself until i made collection.

i arrived to collect the item and they told me there was a release fee and storage charge and the customs and tax. it came to about £200 more. i went ape at them telling them there just conning me and i didnt request this service so why am i paying for it.

anyways they had me by the balls so i just paid it. i contacted CDs and they were interested to hear about it cause had never had this before. they were helpful in a way as they contacted me about it on several occasions but didnt offer any money bak and stuff. in fact since this i have noticed they have changed there website to tell u that customs and other charges may be added which are out of control of CDS (just a little arse covering i think)

anyways i was very happy with the product and couldnt fault CDs fot there service and help so decided to get a second one but learn from my mistakes and get it delivered direct to my door.
this way i wouldnt incurr any aditional charges that have been stated.

i waited and waited and about 2 weeks later my second unit turned up. i was chuffed and it had cost me about £100 less than the first so was very happy. this time DHL had delivered it direct to my house meaning less hassle for me and i thought less charges

walks into my house a month later with a letter from DHL on the matt telling me that customs and tax charges had been paid on behalf of me when entering the country and i owed them £142. i was totally outraged.
i contested this but in the end i decided the best bet was to pay up as they were asking me for legal charges.

all im putting this warning up for is that i didnt want anyone else (especially in the uk) to get stung by this as i think it only seems to be when this company sends stuff to the uk that these charges appear.

CDS is a wholesale company and all VAT, TAX and CUSTOMS duty has not been paid before shipping which is sometimes why there prtoducts are very cheap. just be careful and calculate these extra costs before buying as it might not be such a great deal after all.

saying that the 2 i bought were still a good price but i felt i had been sharked out of aload of money afterwards so just be careful with it

    cheers ollie
