I first bought a projector from TE-lighting (china based with USA cover) when I first started out. The red and blue diode faded and was almost unviewable after using it in test periods for only a month. I called their US customer service who said it would cost $550 to replace just the red diode. I told her that was redickulous and she appologized on the phone and admitted the quality was low in the build and there wasn't much else she could do.
