Karl, I'm proud to call you friend.
(But perhaps you were a tad harsh with the Lad, only a tad thought, not a skosh,)

i had something fimilar as well, 4 weeks ago at a party of mine was a kid playing arround with a laser pointer, i had security remove him and deal with him, he ask what the problem was, so i explained it to him, he couldnt understand it so we threw him out, NOT WELCOME...
I was infact afraid of beeing sued if i would take away his laser pointer.
I`m so glad you destroyed that kid`s pointer :-)
One less stupid kid on this planet with a laser-weapon !!
I recently read in the Norwegian news that it have been more than 115 reported Lasers pointed at aircraft this year (only in Norway) !!!
So that is almost one kid point a laser to a plane every second day all year !!
Whereas I can't comment on the legality of what you did, it was nevertheless morally right.
Rangedunits should take a look at this: http://www.laserist.org/2009-07_Belgian-incident.htm
2 people with serious eye damage caused entirely by members of the audience using high powered pointers at an event.
At a school disco I did the other night, we had a mirror ball hanging from the ceiling. I was firing the laser projector onto the wall behind it, but then I saw this green beam coming from the back of the venue. We had a few people running the event, so I sent someone that wasn't doing anything at the time to check it out.
Turns out it was actually a TEACHER with the laser pointer! He was waving it around, most likely hitting people in the face a couple of times.
Not sure of the power, but we informed him that the pointer was infact illegal, we didn't see it again after that.
Good work Karl.
I request that security search and confiscate pointers at the door on all events that I do. This seems to work really well as the pointers don't even make it through the door...
