Question How can this be done?

Look at this video... http://www.vlp-3d.de/ (~0:40)
Somebody asked me how to accomplish that effect with the single dots cruising around on the outlines of the word "coolux".
Any ideas how to do this in LD2000?

cool effect, to me the dots look like they belong to the video stream, and not part of the laser projection.

This could be done with the lasers, to me it looks like they are having the dots trace out the scanning pattern point-by point. Note how the movement slows down so much at the corners, right where more scanning points would be placed. Ironically I just described and asked for an effect like this for laserboy last night!

In LDS and Phoenix this particular effect can be done via 'path follow' where a dot frame is directed to follow the text frame.

Lightspeed design was the first that I know of to do this. They Mixed Laser with video a long time ago. Still very cool!

    Same command in Pangolin's Showtime.

I think, but I'm not sure, based on the names on the website, your looking at a outgrowth of Lasergraph DSP.

If you have a video source, SMPTE timecode, or its HDTV equal, is read by the laser controller. Pangolin sells a SMPTE decoder for this sort of thing. SMPTE is a audio signal, so easy enough to use even with a VCR or PC video card.

Lasergraph DSP Already has SMPTE MIDI RS232 and DMX built inside and has time control software which controls sync with anything from ADAT to video projector. Anything that has ability to sync Lasergraph can control. It can sync music laser video projector and send a signal to DMX moving heads and fire up pyros.
