Default Pricks with Laser Pointers Again

Don't know if any of the other UK users watched James May's Toy Stories - 10 miles Model Train Record Attempt but if you did then towards the end you might have noticed that some prick with a laser pointer shone it at May and his accomplicies whilst they were filming.

I've got a screen capture from the programme from Youtube:

Luckily it looks very low powered, which considering UK law Limits them to 1mw, probably means it was below any possible damage level.

Having just looked at the footage on you tube, the green light hitting James and co looks like the auto focus light that come's from some digital cameras. I know that my Fugi finepix emits a green light just prior to taking a photo. In a dark enviroment this light can illuminate surfacese some 20 - 30 ft away.

I noticed the green light but didn't think it was laser light.
And I have several days worth of experience with lasers.

Well I could be wrong but it looked like weak laser light to me. There was no camera flash afterwards and cameras usually use red to range find in the dark although some may use green. Also, it appeared twice and both times it was being moved around from the ground up and then back on the presenters faces, wheras with a camera you usually point and shoot which means the light comes on more or less straight onto the subject.

    From that posted photo....

the green light starts near the top of the ear of the the guy on the left
and shines as low as his right hand shirt sleeve...

If that was a laser beam.. it would have originated at one he!! of a distance
from there with that size of beam diameter...

I watched that and didnt think it was a laser. More likely a coloured lamp.
