I took a quick look at this file. It has INSERT in its list of ENTITES and those refer to BLOCK which is defined elsewhere in the file. LaserBoy doesn't know how to read that stuff. As a matter of fact, if you group together a bunch of line primitives, it can't read that either. All of the...

I love Laplace transforms for quickly solving differential equations. I mean what else can convert a second order to an algebra problem. Then you just take the inverse. Granted a lot of limit voodoo but it works.I use it for solving ficks diffusion equations first and second while avoiding the...

I don't have a chance to participate here on PL as much as I used to, and I haven't looked at this thread for a while. But I do believe that this list still has a few holes in it -- at least from the standpoint of Pangolin's software releases and developments. Although our new web site has all...

I’m looking for small 5 to 7 mm AR coated (all sides) right angle prisms to use for total internal reflection. Anyone know a source at a good price? If not coated, uncoated? I can probably find a telescope mirrorizing shop to AR coat uncoated prisms as well as add a mirror coating to the hypotenuse...

I saw that, there is also a new forum just opened at laserdiscourse by members who want to abandon LPF. Giving Jay C. the ability to collect email and IP addresses of members he has been banned by, or has had troubles with a very bad idea. From what I see, Jay appears to have started trying to...

Thank you! I looked at LC-MAX, and it only works with Beyond (correct?). What other software is MAX/AE-to-ILDA friendly?

Here is the simplest example I can do. I start MAX, create a cube, and export as DXF. I had to ZIP it up since DXF isn't a supported file. It opens fine in Illustrator. Is there any reason to use 3D DXF over 2D? I assume if you are doing all your moves and rotations in LaserBoy it may be...

Can you post some examples? DXF is plain ASCII text. So you can open it in notepad or whatever. Look for the ENTITES section and see if it is made of the line primitives that LB knows how to read. I bet your 3D stuff is all about surfaces and not lines or edges.

So 2D DXF files seem to come into LaserBoy with no problem, all colors are retained etc. Yay! However, none of my 3D DXF exports show up, though. Even a simple box. Is there a specific export setting I need to set?

Yes it is vector but it's in signed short integers from -32767 to +32767. LaserBoy does the scaling for you.

Thank you, I will start running some tests.. When rendering, what resolution and aspect ratio do you render to? Does it matter since it is vector?

Thank you. I understand the end result mechanics, I was more curious on the front end when you are creating the animation. It looks like LaserBoy will do what I need (if I am understanding correctly). If I feed it a color DXF sequence, the colors are maintained and represented in the final laser...

You change the color as you draw, in one pass. ILDA defines a point as a color, which means the laser beam will travel from its current point (wherever that is) to the specified point, using the specified color. Would be nice if there was more control so that you could apply gradients but there...

I am just getting into animating for laser displays. I already animate in AE and MAX, what is the best way to get my animations to ILDA format for display? How do you define specific splines for color? For instance, I have a simple text logo that has 3 colors. Do you render for each color...
