I have a Spectra Physics 120S Stabilite laser acquired in 2016 from a university physics laboratory. This has a wavelength of 632.8nm and was 6mW when it was made in 1966, likely much less now. I have kept it for some time but now need to make room. The head does lase but is erratic and can shut off...

Hmmm... You have a laser projector with 12 blue pots on the galvo driver board, and you've jumped to the conclusion the problem is one of those blue pots because - wait - you didn't mention why. I'd like you to pretend that you haven't actually already jumped to the perfect solution and convince...

Hi! I have a laser projector that x axis are narrow that y axis. This laser hasn't external x/y adjust knob. Just the blue pots in the galvo diver pcb. It has 12 blue pots so I don't Know wich one is for x size adjust. I don't Know how to put a picture here.

I'm sad I won't be able to attend this year, but I will try to come in 2025. If anyone wants to build a virtual presence robot, I would happily attend virtually. :) Hopefully another Liberation user can show off the project's progress, especially now with Windows support. It was a big hit at...

Interesting. Since I used a seperate +- ramp for my AM signal I have something that is similar to but not diamond spirals. Thank you.

The diamond spiral I created was just a guess after reading your post earlier. My function generator has 2 outputs so I created that pattern. I still have the build the boards that DZ provided to get a good AM signal source instead of using the function generator. Thanks for the info on the...

Nice find in the scope images. Ok that sounds good. Let me play with the caps and op amps and see what turns up. Thank you.

Laserium's spiral ramp was a 0-10V signal. While you could use a +-10V ramp with 4 quadrant multipliers the image would invert in both axes as the ramp went negative. It would be an interesting look, but inverting a +-10V ramp wouldn't lead to diamond spirals...

Oh sorry. Yes, it is 10K. I'm inclined to pull the board and inspect to confirm the circuit matches, as something doesn't seem right about how the offset voltage happens after the invert. But maybe I'm second guessing myself. I'll check it as time permits.

Greg, just curious, is the DC Offset pot value also 10K like the AM and Sweep Gain pots, to ensure light loading by the op amp's 100K input resistors?

X and Y are +-10V signals from your cycloid generator of choice. AM, usually a ramp, is a +-10V control voltage signal that in this case goes to the AD633 four quadrant multipliers. Inverting the AM signal to either the X axis or the Y axis results in the "diamond" effect. I looked at your video...

Greg. Thanks so much for posting the schematic, but I'm not sure how to hook it up or where in the system it would go. Here are a few questions: * Is AM in some type of AM modulated signal or the CV control voltage like a sinewave? * Not sure what the sweep signal in is or where it come...

Is this image close or have the same concept to what is called a diamond spiral? It is the KQO with a 12Hz AM modulated sinewave. One axis has a positive offset and the other a negative offset. The signals for the AM are coming from the function generator. I am so glad I bought this thing.

Brian: here are the x and y scope traces. One at startup and one after running for 30 minutes. There is a -2Vdc offset coming from somewhere. I'm still investigating.

Brian, that is a big difference and type of circuit. Thanks for clarifying. With that, I wonder if the clipper circuit in the KQO is causing my drift issue. When I turn the circuit ON the KQO is in the center, as it runs is slowly drift at a 45 degree angle up to 6 inchs from the center with...
