I am wondering how many people are using older versions of Windows so I created this poll. Please take a few moments to vote. I'll post results once votes stop coming in. Thank you!

I am 2 years late for the update lol. But I sent you an e-mail Andrew. I also lost my setup files (though I still have my activation file, LSX and ILD SOS installed. I may need it for a reinstall). Can you help me? Thanks!

May I suggest LaserShowGen. It will allow you to make your own fairly easily. Also what kind of Christmas stuff, anything in particular?

Looks like CastAR is reborn! There was the project with Valve and then the kickstarter for CastAR and then it went poof. And now it looks like it is revived, cool beans.

If pin to socket on 4 and 17 are not bridged then the safety interlock won't work on the female connector even if the signals are all there. The projector just won't allow the lasers to come on. The idea is that pins 4 and 17 are an open switch and plugging in a live DAC closes the switch so the...

Standard is M-M? Its always female out of the DAC (so you can't touch the pins with voltage) into a male at the projector end, same as most applications that try to shield live pins. You should be able to plug the DAC directly into the projector without a cable (if the standoffs weren't in the...

Go ahead and ridicule my inefficient use of breadboard. Here are oscillators 1 and 3 of the CYGN-B prior to the permanent build. One axis of each oscillator is output to the sillyscope. Notice that the lissajous is rock stable. This proves that the legend of the syncing 555's is true. Investigating...

Here are some photos of more Laserium Flashbacks from the DOGN. Providing DC to the audio amp input to drive the G100's works but only for little DC. Conveniently, converting 0 to 5VDC DAC output into -+10V control voltage is a very common thing to do, and VREF is available on one of the pins of...

Both of the previous posts sound like fun to me. When I was about 14 or so, I started on my life long passion of designing and building speakers. I glued a tiny mirror chip on an 8 inch woofer and let just a little beam of sunlight in through the window to hit it. I through that was pretty cool.

I'm not sure just what qualifies as a vector hack, but way back when - I knew a guy that put a mirror on a small rubber motor mount and screwed the other side of the motor mount to a board. If you positioned the mirror in the path of his small HeNe laser and twanged the mirror...

Here's a photo of some stupid thing I built in the mid 1990s which today's slanguage might call a "vector hack". It is an oscillator in the (if I remember correctly) 100s of KHz range that the operator sweeps the frequency of by toying with the ferrite slug visible projecting from the left of...

Occasionally Bambi BB8/BB15 compressors show up at realatively sensible prices from time to time on eBay. Maybe one of those? I've never use their tiny ones from the models above, but I've had several of the much larger ones over the years and they are absolutely brilliant. *retardo All the...

Look into converting an old refrigerator compressor to an air compressor. They are virtually silent and should have the capacity for what you need. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it.

I don't know what size is acceptable for your project, but I'd run a small single-piston compressor if a low noise amount and a modest footprint is acceptable. An alternative is a small CO2 bottle with a regulator if swapping the bottle out when it runs out is not an issue. Both these solutions...

I suspect the proliferation of 506s have caused a mass sell-off! I, too, have a stack of galvos to get rid of now! Anyway, good luck with your sales. For any beginners, these are good prices to get your feet wet with some decent galvos that won't break the bank!

For starting, most galvo sets will work just fine with a -2.5 to +2.5 volt input if the negative lead of the galvo axis differential input is grounded. So if you have a 5 volt DAC on your chip, all you need is a minus 2.5 volt offset. This is easy with a summing op-amp circuit. You'll get...
