This sounds like a thermal issue, although usually the problems get worse when the projector warms up, rather than getting better. Could be a cold-solder joint or some other loose connection inside the case, but a failing scanner amp is also a likely possibility. Unfortunately, if this is a...

I have a custom-built laser that I purchased from someone, and the scanner is acting up. I use Beyond software and have no idea what brand of laser or scanner is installed. When i activate the test pattern after turning on the laser, the pattern is very distorted. After about 15 minutes the pattern...

Allrighty. I've got a half dozen pots on their way here. A whopping $2 each, and a full sixty seconds to clip wire ties and remove the ilda board. If a $2 pot fixes this issue, I'm going to owe you guys steak and beer.

Has the community moved on from LSX? i sure havent, and if This TouchOSC template i made is still used by some i would be more then happy to...

You might just have a bad solder connection- it's worth a good look with a magnifying glass.

While I did initially suggest Deoxit, since then you have detailed a condition far beyond my initial thoughts. It is best, and less expensive, if you just replace the pots. While Deoxit works wonders it will not repair a damaged pot...and if you are not extremely careful you could make a mess...

OH WOW! That's amazing! If it's just a bad pot, and that pot controls both the X and Y, then WOO HOO! We could definitely be on to a simple fix! I'm going to first hit one up with some deoxit (damn, I had never bought that stuff before - it's expensive! $35 for the 100% formula ouch!)... ...

Excellent. With those questions answered as well as Buffo's, we can deduct that it does not appear to be an ILDA input issue. Since you are well aware that the external "pattern size" pot is flakey on all 3 units lets focus on that for a bit. That pot, pointed out in the image below does appear...

I also have tons of heads, drivers, cables, parts etc. Many of the green ones still produce 2+ watts. Have a couple single frequency red versions (660nm)which I have been keeping for now.

I have 8 FB3s, all feeding individual projectors, none daisy chained, being fed from Beyond (although of course Quickshow did the exact same thing). And, the projectors with the X axis issue exhibit the same problem if I drop them onto a different FB3 and cable as well. It's definitely the...

First question: The issue persists when using the internal images. Also, I had a different laser on that same ilda DB25 cable with no issues. Second question: I run them all direct from separate FB3s (8 separate ones). The Mobile Beat MKVs don't have ilda out, just ilda in. So they're all...

Hi George! Long time no chat. :D Thanks for confirming my memory. Dang - just 50 mw, and only one? There had to be nearly a dozen lasers in that pile... Sucks that they were all trash. The best thing I got out of that storage unit was the tool shelf with the slide-out shelves. ...

^^ This is excellent advice! :) The reason we don't want you to touch those pots is because those are the tuning pots for the scanner amps. These are set at the factory and normally do not need to be adjusted. Yes, there are a few times where re-tuning the amps might make sense, but the...

1st question: If you disconnect the ILDA cable and run the internal images, do you still have the same X axis issues on all three projectors? 2nd question: Since you are using Beyond, and assuming and FB3 or FB4 DAC, how are you daisy chaining the 3 projectors as there are no ILDA out connectors?...

Yes, those external pots (well, the one that exists) is jittery when I turn it, but that affects both the X and Y axis. If I don't touch the beam size pot at all, it's OK. The issue really is with the X axis on all three of them. Very strange. As a side note, do you happen to know what those...

No, absolutly not with regards to the driver boards pots - and do not turn them. Sorry for the confusion. I was only referencing the big external pot on the back. If that pot is dirty it could be causing your x axis fluctuations. You have now indicated that the external pots are dirty, do you...

i use them exclusively with the ILDA inputs using Beyond. That's a good point about the pots, though. A thought I hadn't considered. They have a big external pot on the back to adjust the overall beam size, and that is dirty on all three of them (and one is flat out toast - any adjustment at...

"They were all manufactured in the summers of 2013 and 2014. So they're getting some age on them. All three of them from time to time will have the horizontal width of their projected images go wacky. After a few minutes, it usually clears up. And it seems to only be relating to the X axis, not...

The two sets of jumpers circled in the attached pics will go direct to the differential inputs, as they are used to reverse input polarity. I sent a request to a friend in Cali, if anyone has the manual he does. We shall see. Steve

All nearly of them use the same demodulator circuit for the photodiode currents Drive cable and Feedback cable have separate grounds and shield braid, From the attached you should be able to figure out the pinouts by reverse engineering the board. "AGC" is drive to the position sensor...
