Hello all,new to this site and see alot of knowledgeable members. I'm hoping someone might know if it's possible/feasible to run a 163-A1202 head and or a 0117-12 argon with a Uniphase 2113 P.S. unit,or with a Uniphase 2101 P.S.
The 163 is a head with the umb. attached,the model 0117 is a bare tube.
Obviously neither supply is a direct match,but is it possible to mod preferably the Uniphase 2113 supply to run them as I have three of them,reserving one for my working 2214 head.

Only if the 117 tube comes close to matching the "personality" board in the Uniphase, which to the best of my knowledge has never been hacked or documented. So the tube voltage vs current curves need to be similar. You must likely will not hurt anything by trying.Quote:

Where are You located ? I hope Yu're aware that 2113 PS is woring only from 220V or higher AC line.
2113 is dedicated to bigger JDS heads, so will be able to supply more/too much current for SP head.
This means You shouldn't run Your SP or JDS 2214 head from this one at full current.
Also 2113 will be capable of higher output voltage, I guess up to 150V DC. This may stress the starter circuit in both SP and 2214 head, but still not far off (from typical 105V DC).
If You like to try with 2113 - wire it for current control, idle or min current, close the interlock and prior to connecting a SP head - measure what anode voltage will it hand out. If it's below c.a. 160V, then You may proceed to SP interconnection.
After trigger pulse - observe anode current (DC clamp) or 2113 current monitor output for current below 9A. Also keep an eye for lasing action - it may happen that SP head thanks to higher start voltage at startup will discharge through gas return. This manifests in higher anode voltage (120-160V) and lack of lasing. If it's the case - power down immediately, below 5 seconds from start.

Thanks for the reply,I'm in Ca. and use the 2113 on 220v to run the 2213 head.
Model no. 2113-75SLNX on the power supply and 2213-75SLNX on the head.
I have two other supplies with model no. 2113-75SLN,not sure what the "X" denotes
or if there's any difference.
The white 9 pin connector I can get,would have to make a harness for the round
feedback/light control connection.
I also have a Cyonics/Uniphase 2101-10SLSX supply if that might be a better match
and it is a 120v input.

OOPS! My bad,I was mistaken on the model of the working head in my original post/question,it is a 2213-75SLNX
rather than a 2214.
