Tuning galvo's with a scope

Hi guys,

I was just wondering ... how would one go about tuning galvos with a scope?

I was thinking : feed the galvos with a square wave, measure the input and take the output from PD or position output of the amp.

Problem is you would'nt know which 'ILDA' speed you're tuning to ...

I got this idea of mine that I got for ages.

One could write a relative simple tuning wizard application for a pc.
Connect the audio output to the amp inputs.
Connect the audio input to the amp feedback signals.
Then you could have a step by step procedure, that guides your through the tuning process.

Great idea!
But you would need a DC-coupled soundcard with decent outputs like a MOTU or a DIY USB DAC (Laserboy-style)

Personally I think tuning to ilda standard cán be done without modification of the soundcard. You don't háve to use the 15/30k pattern per-se to yield the same results.

Tuning the step-response is the hardest part, you don't need the part bellow 200Hz or dc for that.
