We have a rule where she doesn't ask, and I don't tell her - and she trusts that I'm making sensible purchases that will at least recoup their cost in their lifetime.
I don't have to 'bribe' with gifts, but I do have to take her along to a festival or 2 through the year.
She thinks the lasers are cool too, but I have needed to plan my time a bit better, now we have a daughter. ;)
