If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

Laserists do it by the nanometre.

5 hours each way... hmmm...
Go on then!
Now I know how you Scot lot feel for the other LEM's!
Edit: Depends when though.
- There is no such word as "can't" -
- 60% of the time it works every time -
I totally understand what you are saying Adam, I am of the same thaughts.
If it wasn't for the LEM's I would have probably sold up by now. I do tend to move around hobbies quite quickly and usually return to the same hobbies time and time again. I put it down to self diagnosed ADD which has bloody haunted me all through my schooling days to the present.
The LEM's are great, you just can't beat them
I really hope I can be there and have primed the missus ready for when it's date is announced.
We need a Western and a Southern venue now![]()

Is this a good thread to say 'hello'?
I've been a visitor for a wee while but what better time to join the board when there's talk of big lasers within an hour of me!
I'd love to have a wee look if it's cool for newbies to turn up.
Hi Tallboy ..welcome ... yes all welcome to meeting , but please take few mins to pop over to intro forum and let us all know your experience , ambitions etc with lasers if any and Interest etc
Great Folks ..... looks like its building nicely ! and im sure once a definate dates in place a few more will show interest.
Ive kinda been waiting to see whats happening with leicester meets , if anything ? to think about dates ...there a SurFlem in MAY .. so june seems too soon for a ScotLem ( although id love to accomodate Pelosh in june but its just weeks after SurFlem)
ROB - "Its a long drive but I will come no worries " - Love the way you just throw yourself in there , no hesitation .... .Some guy ! LOL
The Scotlems WAS just an idea , thats looking like a real possibilitynow , for a few scottish guys to have some laser fun , but if a few of our english etc friends are willing to travel and make a small holiday weekend of it then i would like to try and accomodate things so its not too close to any of the main meets , although with 2 leicester meets and 2 surfleets a year that could be difficult !
Rob I think we will be talking in next few days so hopefully that will help me plan and fix a date

In the beginning there was none. Then came the light - #1 UKLEM - 2007
BUY UK LEGAL LASER POINTER :: NEW - Blue 460nm Laser Pointers
Welcome to PhotonLexicon! Glad to have you here. You certainly did pick a good time to join, what with the SCOTLEM happening so close to you. If you're looking for a way to "jump-start" your interest in this hobby, attending a LEM is just about the best way to do so. (You'll also meet some very nice folks!)
I'm sure they'd be happy to have you there. After all, that's one of the goals of these Laser Enthusiast's Meetings: to get new people up to speed quickly. (Though admittedly a secondary goal is to just geek out and watch cool laser shows for a day.) Remember to bring your camera, and be sure to ask lots of questions.I'd love to have a wee look if it's cool for newbies to turn up.
By the time the day is over, you'll have a hundred ideas in your head, I promise. (Oh, and you can say goodbye to financial solvency from this point on...)
Adam
Hi Paul,
Don't know how I only just saw this!
Not really done anything active with lasers since building the projector -I think I'm like Smog , I tend to flit from one interest to another, though light in any emmited form has always been an interest.
My activities have been severley curtailed since losing my job last year, but this seems too good to miss - almost on my doorstep ( well 4- 5 hours anyway!). Certainly nearest to me its likely to get anyway (unless I held a HighLem - at which I would probably be the only attendee). I will be 60 this year , so maybe a good excuse - could always use my bus pass
I will keep a close look at developments.
Kind regards , David
You have just made my mind up David
See you at ScottyLEM![]()

Attaboy, Jim!
You know you'll have a great time... Besides, you only live once. Better make this one count, right?(remember to take lots of pictures!)
We've got a Florida Laser Enthusiast's Meeting coming up next week, and I'm totally psyched. Well, not about the 750 mile round-trip drive, but certainly about the 2 days of fun! I'm sure you guys are just as keyed up about your upcoming event too.
Hey - any chance of a live internet feed from SCOTLEM?
